When Vincent Price was in a one-man play about Oscar Wilde, Anita Bryant denounced it. When he was asked about her opinion, Price said Wilde already had a term for Bryant: A Woman of No Importance.
He was a Bi-icon of the highest order

seems to me the reason right wing ding dongs bang on and on about "paid protestors" is bc they can't conceive of taking a political position without a personal financial reward attached

Show me a no-semi-colon cop and I’ll show you a filthy comma-splicer. My evidence? Quite nearly the entirety of literature in English in this century. This is an unhinged comment. I’m shooting semicolons at everyone.

Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

THIS is the cover art for these books? They got so much better treatment on first run.

Yesterday during a writing session on my current in-progress novel, I somehow lost track of POV and tense and went stupid. I was NOT excited to see what I’d done when I looked at it today. But…I now think that I’ve accidentally hit upon a formalistic conceit that I want either to pursue…

"Decolonize Everything"
“When the last tree is cut, the last river poisoned, and the last fish caught… then you will realize money cannot be eaten.”

Incredible. That universe’s Steve Miner directed some bangers that we did not get here in our stupid universe.

ASH WEDNESDAY (Steve Miner, 1982)

A homicidal maniac, obsessed with penitence and sacrifice, escapes from his lunatic asylum on Shrove Tuesday.  Taking refuge in the basement rec-hall of a Catholic church, he wreaks his insane vengeance during a parochial school sock hop.

My cat Noah has recently been on a program with a specific breakfast to aid his gastro issues. And he LOVES that breakfast and pesters us awake to get it. But if the slightest thing—perceptible only to him—is not exactly perfect then he yells for a while and paws at the food until hunger wins.

I am pre-rejecting it. Unless Travis Beaudoin writes one.
kylerfey.bsky.social
I’m not even going to look into this concept even for a few seconds before possibly unfairly rejecting it on sight, but if horror romance is somehow a horror genre story but with mandatory HEA…no. Absolutely not.

...but if you'd like to lay your peepers on a trippy, horror television series starring Robert Englund that Wes Craven DID directly create and curate, I suggest checking out NIGHTMARE CAFE. It's about a diner not beholden to the rules of space or time that draws in the unusual, strange, and dead.
A promo ad for 1992's NIGHTMARE CAFE, featuring series leads Jack Coleman and Lindsay Frost in vintage diner server apparel looking on as Rober Englund looks over a menu.

I read that the baseball kid’s performance was genuinely distressing for the other actors on set because it was so effective and believable.

The Mod Squad, Assignment: The Hideout (1970)

Cover design by Dezső Csanády #BookCoverArt
A psychedelic book cover from the 1970 Whitman hardcover tie-in novel "The Mod Squad: Assignment: The Hideout" by Richard Deming, adapting a TV episode about young undercover cops infiltrating a mountain hideout.

Hungarian designer Dezső Csanády's artwork uses pinks, oranges, and purples with pops of other colors to stylize the trio.

I haven’t seen this in decades but I remember that the vomit creature is amazing and I remember being horrified by the incident of the kid getting attacked by his braces.

Love DEAD AND BURIED! I sometimes confuse it with BURIAL GROUND (also a total banger) until I see this box art. Then I remember.

I’ll sheepishly admit that I just watched this one for the first time. I’m forgiving a few (really distracting) editing flubs because of the awesomely bleak ending that slams shut plot holes like the lid of a coffin.

It can be very unsettling to see a sign like this with no readily apparent meaning in a place with nothing else like it. When I was a little kid in Wisconsin I always noticed a sign in a corn field on a rural road announcing an entity called “Technocracy”. No idea who or what they were.

Oh hell yeah. I don’t think I knew this word “monstrance.” Gonna work it into everyday conversation now.
goingmedieval.bsky.social
Look, this is what Catholicism does so well. Yes girl, BRING OUT THE MONSTRANCE. MAKE THEM SAY IT IN FRONT OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT. Martin Luther could *never*. He failed to predict the Trump Presidency and also is directly implecated. I am so serious.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

What the fuck do these 42% think they’re made of? I’m sure this new logo and mentioning potatoes will be be seen as another “woke”’ attack on traditional culture.

42% of Lay's potato chip consumers - according to company internal research - do not know that Lay's Potato Chips are made of potatoes and now I want to cry a little
