Like a lot of readers, most of what I read is from the last hundred years. But I do like reading older works sometimes. My favorite pre-20th century writers:

Herman Melville
John Keats
William Shakespeare
Christopher Marlowe
Jane Austen
William Blake
John Donne
Mary Shelley
Oscar Wilde

Remembering Harvey Milk, who was assassinated on this day, November 27th, in 1978. Watch Jenni Olson's beautiful meditative short film, shot in the re-creation of Harvey's Castro Camera Store, made for Gus Van Sant's film Milk: www.youtube.com/watch?v=klcAJNkmlpw

For someone who's a fairly serious reader, I have to confess that I have a weakness for novelizations. They often explore plot elements more fully than in the film.

Fun fact: that Capricorn One book was written by Ken Follett under a pseudonym (and there was a different novelization in the US).

I just saw this headline. I actually interviewed Ethan Browne in my days as a college admissions rep. And met his Dad afterwards, who was in our waiting area (the only celebrity parent who did that in my five years at that job). Sad news.

The best intro to a band ever imo. First Woody's guitar, then Mac's organ, then Plonk's bass, then finally Rod and Kenney kick in together. Really sets the stage for what the Faces became.

This movie is so trippy, especially the end, where Mary Tyler Moore gives the same look to Elvis that she gives to Jesus on the cross 🤨
