Why should you 🫵🏿 care about SNAP? SNAP recipients saw:

- Improved life expectancy
- Lower chance of incarceration
- Lowers chance of poverty
- Lived in better neighborhoods
- Higher human capital

Hoynes, Maya Rossin-Slater & Reed Walker X LinkedIn Facebook Bluesky Threads Email Link Working Paper 26942 DOI 10.3386/w26942 Issue Date April 2020 We use novel, large-scale data on 43 million Americans from the 2000 Census and the 2001 to 2013 American Communities Survey linked to the Social Security Administration’s NUMIDENT to study how a policy-driven increase in economic resources for families affects children’s long-term outcomes. Using variation from the county-level roll-out of the Food Stamps program between 1961 and 1975, we find that children with access to greater economic resources before age five experience an increase of 6 percent of a standard deviation in their adult human capital, 3 percent of a standard deviation in their adult economic self-sufficiency, 8 percent of a standard deviation in the quality of their adult neighborhoods, 0.4 percentage-point increase in longevity, and a 0.5 percentage-point decrease in likelihood of being incarcerated. Based on these estimates, we conclude that Food Stamps’ transfer of resources to families is a highly cost-effective investment into young children, yielding a marginal value of public funds of approximately 56.

Either legislators are purposely trying to worsen quality of life for Americans or they don't realize how much damage it will cause to defund the CPB. And that's the point. You don't destroy something that Americans have spent decades & billions building w/o VERY GOOD REASON. There is no reason.

MEMORANDUM AND ORDER JOHN J. MCCONNELL, JR., United States District Court Chief Judge. Once again, this Court is confronted with a legal challenge by various states, against an Executive Order that attempts to dismantle congressionally sanctioned agencies and ignores congressionally appropriated funds. Here, the targeted federal agencies support our libraries, museums, minority business enterprises, and the well-respected federal mediation services. This Executive Order violates the Administrative Procedures Act ("APA") in the arbitrary and capricious way it was carried out. It also disregards the fundamental constitutional role of each of the branches of our federal government; specifically, it ignores the unshakable principles that Congress makes the law and appropriates funds, and the Executive implements the law Congress enacted and spends the funds Congress appropriated. Accordingly, because IMLS, MBDA, and FMCS have not provided a rational connection between the sweeping actions they have taken and the vague, conclusory justifications they have provided, the Court finds that the States have established a strong likelihood of success on their arbitrary and capricious claims. Ohio, 603 U.S. at 292. Further, the Court finds that the States have illustrated a strong likelihood of success on their claims that IMLS, MBDA, and FMCS acted arbitrarily and capriciously in failing to consider reliance interests. Regents, 591 U.S. at 30; see also Smiley v. Citibank (S. Dakota), N.A., 517 U.S. 735, 742 (1996) (citations omitted) ("Sudden and unexplained change, . . . or change that does not take account of legitimate reliance... may be 'arbitrary, capricious lor] an abuse of discretion." The Court therefore finds that the States are likely to succeed in establishing that IMLS, MBDA, and FMCS violated the APA by acting "not in accordance" with 38 Case 1:25-cv-00128-JJM-LDA Document 57 Filed 05/06/25 Page 39 of 49 PagelD #: 1396 their respective statutory mandates and congressional appropriations acts when effectively absconding their statutory mandates by terminating core services and grant programs.

There is a LOT of reporting on IMLS right now, but it's being done by people who know what it is. The DOE being dismantled is overshadowing this and that's being done INTENTIONALLY.

But anyway, DOGE is in the IMLS offices right now destroying it.

Sonderling was sworn-in in the lobby of the office building (955 L'Enfant Plaza) and they are proceeding with quickly and quietly dismantling the agency. There is no major reporting on the death of IMLS. There are Deparment of Homeland Security personnel present - to bully a bunch of civil servants who administer grants to museums and libraries. IMLS offices are on the 4th floor of 955 L'Enfant. There is no media present to document this efficiency saving of .004% of the federal budget. Every library system in the country receives these grants. Museums in every state depend on them. Every penny disbursed is American tax dollars back in American communities. This is one of the 7 federal agencies offered up as a needless sacrificial lamb in the catastrophic resolution and last week's EO.

So many book banning bills are written like HB0194 in WY (if you live there, vote's on Weds) where it pretends it's about protecting kids from porn, but uses a new, BROAD definition of "obscenity" and makes people CRIMINALLY liable for disseminating it.

Dorothy B. Porter changed libraries 💜

The Dewey Decimal System used to only have two classifications for Black people: 325 (colonization) & 326 (slavery). Each book by a Black person was put into one of these classifications. A book of poetry? Classified as colonization.

Trump to be President of the United States and gave him a mandate to increase the impact of every federal taxpayer dollar. In Fiscal Year 2024. of the nearly $10 trillion that the Federal Government spent, more than $3 trillion was Federal financial assistance, such as grants and loans. Career and political appointees in the Executive Branch have a duty to align Federal spending and action with the will of the American people as expressed through Presidential priorities. Financial assistance should be dedicated to advancing Administration priorities, focusing taxpayer dollars to advance a stronger and safer America, eliminating the financial burden of inflation for citizens, unleashing American energy and manufacturing, ending wokeness" and the weaponization of government, promoting efficiency in government, and Making America Healthy Again. The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve. This memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President's policies and requirements. For example, during the initial days of his Administration, President Donald J Trump issued a series of executive orders to protect the American people and safeguard valuable taxpayer resources, including Protecting the American People Against Invasion (Jan. 20, 2025). Reevaluating and Realigning United States Foreign Aid (Jan 20, 2025), Putting America First in International Environmental Agreements (Jan. 20, 2025). Unleashing American Energy (Jan. 20. 2025). Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing (Jan. 20. ent these orders, each agency must complete a comprehensive analysis of all jal assistance programs to identify programs, projects, and activities that any of the President's executive orders. In the interian, to the extent applicable law, Federal agencies must temporarily pause all activities related disbursement of all Federal financial assistance, and other relevant agency nay be implicated by the executive orders, including, but not limited to, financial surice tot foreign nongovernmental organizations, DEL woke gender ideology, and the pause will provide the Administration time to review agency programs of the funding for those programs consistent with the law and the he temporary pause will become effective on January 28, 2025, at 5:00 rehensive analysis.
