This piece on AI by Cory Doctorow is spectactular.

the digital humanities erasure of archival labor walked so that LLMs inventing archival resources could gallop unimpeded
Folks might not know a lot of people are getting *very* upset that the materials they request are not available in the libraries/archives they're requesting from.

We're getting lots here at the Library of Virginia: requests of documents likely surfaced by large language models that *do not exist*.
I wish a notice like this wasn't necessary.

When cameras are installed, they issue many violations in the first month, followed by a steep decline in the second month. This suggests that the cameras effectively deter speeding by changing underlying driver behavior rather than relying on sustained revenue extraction.

You only run Newsom for President if you want Republicans to win in 2028
2028 favorite Gavin Newsom says he wants the Democratic Party to be a "big tent." But he says he "adamantly" opposes the wealth tax proposal that 95% of Democrats, and a huge majority of the whole country, support.

"A wealth tax is a big tent policy unless the only people you care about are billionaires," said one progressive organizer.

When Gavin Newsom was elected in 2018, he said he would oversee construction of 3.5 million homes by now. Then he stuck his tail between his legs while segregationists and their left-NIMBY interns blocked major reforms until getting serious this year.

This dude has no stones to fight Republicans.
California Governor Gavin Newsom said on Thursday that the Democratic Party needed to be “more culturally normal” and “less judgmental.”

While San Diego got rid of the onstreet parking on southbound Park Blvd through Balboa Park during December Nights, it wasn’t converted to a bus lane so the buses were still stuck in car traffic. Would someone in San Diego media please ask why that happened.

I’d like to talk with you or them about that experience for my research

When you buy into the USPS as a business losing money, you are buying into losing these other public services:

-fire/EMT/911
-public transportation
-senior services
-public utilities
-roads & infrastructure

And MORE...

Public good costs very little for the benefits.

Remove Jeffries. We need an actual leader, unit a play pretend one.
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.
