I already have a counterproposal:

Russia pulls forces/proxies out of Ukraine—all of it—and removes offensive weapons from regions bordering Ukraine.

Pays for all war damage—and reconstruction.

All Russians engaged in war crimes stand trial.

And Ukraine can join any alliance it damn well pleases.

@mollyskyfire.bsky.social's coming out story could not begin in the constraints of our reality, no, her story takes us from the dream world to the waking one in this fantastical, psychedelic autobiographical story about how she found her gender and herself. 1/2

as states become more and more divided by a patchwork of mutually-conflicting age-verification laws, surely at some point we’re going to have to grapple with the fact that it literally is not technologically possible for a website to know what state a user is from... right?

It’s widely known (and, I think, pretty uncontroversial) that learning requires effort — specifically, if you don’t have to work at getting the knowledge, it won’t stick.

Even if an LLM could be trusted to give you correct information 100% of the time, it would be an inferior method of learning it.
Relying on ChatGPT to teach you about a topic leaves you with shallower knowledge than Googling and reading about it, according to new research that compared what more than 10,000 people knew after using one method or the other.

Bill Maher would refuse to believe Hitler was targeting the Jews.

No exaggeration. There were people who did this shit then, and Maher is doing it now. He doesn't think trans people are being targeted because "he thinks they deserve to be targeted." 1
PATTON OSWALT: These people are scared. They're being targeted. We're watching them be targeted right now. We're watching transgender people be targeted in a very aggressive way, so—

BILL MAHER: We are? Where?

OSWALT: Oh my god.

MAHER: Where are they being targeted?

A commonly-misunderstood aspect of computer security is that you are battling computers.

No. That is not right at all. Computers are barely involved.

You are battling humans who eat apathy and coordination problems.

Can't help you with the filtering, but the browser extension I made could at least save you from having to scroll to the end of the page by showing you the AI disclosure as a popup on page load instead. github.com/seeeeew/aiwa...

The witch made him hot chocolate.

"They say I'm strong," he said. "And I am."

He took a sip.

"They say I can overcome any hardship."

"Mm," said the witch.

"And I can. I do."

The witch said nothing.

"But I shouldn't have to!"

"No."

The witch held the hero as he wept.

"No, you shouldn't."

The industry’s plan is to become infrastructure so they can get bailed out. That’s why they ink money-losing deals with organizations and governments: the AI companies want to be too big to fail so that they’ll get rescued from bankruptcy. And after the last 15 years, why wouldn’t they think that?

CyberConnect2 keeping it the goddamn realest.

I love this studio. They do a lot of big-name work-for-hire stuff. They made Asura's Wrath for Capcom. They did Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. They made the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm series.

They build a war-chest and then self-publish niche furry games.

Gen AI is an absolute scourge in the small games market on Steam, but ESPECIALLY in the adult games segment. The first thing you have to do is scroll down to see what they say they're doing. Has anyone made something to fully filter games with AI use out of the Steam store yet?

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.
