I still reflexively scan the lot for good sleeping spots when I pull into a Walmart, and also shudder at the thought of ever living that life again. It's been years. And yes, I had a full time job at better than minimum wage.
"Homelessness today isn't just the person sleeping outside a Walmart. It's often the cashier or worker stocking the shelves inside."

I joined @pbsnews.org to talk about There Is No Place for Us and the staggering rise of the "working homeless":

In Barcelona rn and it is the best designed city I’ve ever been to by a mile
Heard this one? The City of Barcelona traded 3 lanes of vehicle traffic for an exceptional 4.7km green pedestrian corridor in the heart of the Eixample grid. Businesses sued, & eventually won in court. Then they admitted that they actually like the change.

Streets for people are good for business.
The Legal Attack on Superblock Barcelona - City Lab Barcelona
In this blog post, I attempt to unpack what this court ruling is about, the legal arguments, and who is behind it. Did the city really do something wrong?  What will happen to the Consell de Cent proj...

The Trump administration keeps canceling reports about the economy.
The latest the GDP report was just pushed back. This follows the canceling of the October jobs report and the inflation report.
He has no proof of his “great economy”.

19 year old freshman just wants to go home for Thanksgiving to see her family, she gets deported to Honduras.

Former President of Honduras who’s serving 45 years in prison for drug trafficking?

He gets a full presidential pardon.

Both are Honduran. Only one is a criminal.

CNN’s decision to platform Stephen Miller’s wife normalizes an ideology rooted in ethno-nationalism & erasure. Democracies don’t survive by giving fascists a dais & a microphone that offers institutional legitimacy. These voices aren’t contributors to public discourse. They are a threat to it.

high school grades are just extremely bad signal
Some high schools are inflating grades to compensate and avoid scrutiny, which then fucks up the admissions process down the line, as students from schools that don’t inflate grades are out competed.

UCSD stated they will blacklist certain high schools over the practice, but that’s just one school

There are specific reasons Trumpists want war on Venezuela, but there‘s a generic one: they crave power to make war on anyone, any time, for completely fabricated reasons, and then to use the guise of war to increase violence and repression everywhere, including home.

They are lawless bestial scum.

And I don't know if the answer is: everyone is too traumatized to do work and we need to reinvent society. Or if it's more like: generations are losing their cognitive abilities and willpower due to destructive technologies. Or: we all have post-viral brain damage. Or: all of the above.

Fascinating how quickly the "war on terrorism" has now become the "war on narcoterrorism."

Media did nothing to hold accountable the administrations who ignited and perpetuated the made up "war on terror" and now they sit as complicit stenographers for the made up "war on narcoterror." What a shame
