I am obviously going to be skeptical here, but I am sure the administration will use this to promote the falsehood that there is widespread SNAP fraud. Bear in mind that $7 million represents .27% of the annual Massachusetts SNAP budget.

Pluribus feels very deliberately anti-second-screen to me (but i am also usually knitting)
Every time I hear about how tv and movies need to be made for people who are also on their phones it makes me want to do the total opposite and write something where the action and dialogue only make sense if you’re watching and listening to them at the same time and are otherwise confusing!!!!

This is not true. This is argument that pro-gun people use to discount red flag and waiting period laws. Ease of access and lethality (let alone cheerful instruction in the best method!) is the #1 predictor of attempts leading actual completion. The more barriers, the more people live.

The buildings across the street from me use gas-powered leaf blowers nearly every week and the noise pollution, not to mention the air pollution, is ridiculous. And this is in a dense neighborhood in Brooklyn where a broom and a rake would do the job just as well. Ban ‘em.
Great new @bloomberg.com piece by Jessica Stolzberg on ongoing struggle against stupidest and most harmful part of current 'Conspicuous Consumption' yard hygiene.

We found: the wealthiest 100 Americans gave $1.1 billion to influence the 2024 elections — 140x more than they did in 2000. And almost all of that giving boosted Republicans.
