Those beads are people. Families. Friends. Neighbours. Children. Doctors and nurses. Teachers and carers. Millions of them.
Lam believes her policy would deport all of the proportion in pink - keeping the thin group in black - of the post-2021 legal migrant arrivals. (The draft legislation proposes similar thresholds/rules for all past grants too). She says jar is 3.5m people: an astonishing scale of mass deportations
The thing that became crystal clear to me over the last few years is that the tactics used by domestic abusers, bullies and autocrats is exactly the same, only the scale differs. That said the people doing the big scale things are probably doing the smaller scale ones too.
It feels like Cameron never really believed in anything though, he was just happy to let everyone else get on with their horrible projects while he racked up cv points in the way to a well paid consultancy job and retirement in the lords.
In 2017 Labour didn’t understand the coalition of voters they’d built and started losing a lot of them. It’s sad to see history repeat with Starmer in 2025. I can’t believe I voted for continuity Cameronism, I’m sure a lot of people feel the same way.
I was zipping all over the place. Didn’t get a chance to say hello unfortunately.
Fantasticamania UK 2025 did exactly what it said on the tin. Great shows.

That’s why I’ve always assumed a lot of AI will die because it’ll poison itself due to the greed of the people involved.

Now that Trump has illegally bombed a seventh boat in the Caribbean, please note this: Rep Adam Smith, ranking Dem on Armed Services, tells me that *at no point* have officials given lawmakers even the most basic information about these extrajudicial murders:

The only thing that gave me pause this time was the idea that he might view Putin as a loser. Roy Cohn taught us that there’s no one he won’t abandon no matter how useful they’ve been to him in the past.

Decades after the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters, can politicians please not second-guess expert safety assessments for football stadiums.

Thank you.

An Aston Villa fan.
Our city’s Muslim population is about 30% and we have widespread support for Palestinians here which means a lot of Palestinian flags on display. The Safety Advisory group made an entirely fair and justified decision based on what happened in Amsterdam last year.

This is absurd. If supporters of an English football club went to another country, committed violent hate crimes and public order offences, and the police in a subsequent country decided they couldn't be doing with it, the Prime Minister and the Leader Of The Opposition would not be caping for them.

Ministers to explore reversing ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending UK match after PM’s criticism – politics live
Fans of the Israeli football team will not be allowed to attend the Europa League match at Aston Villa on 6 November owing to safety concerns Good morning. Yesterday it emerged that fans of Maccabi Tel Aviv will not be allowed to attend the Europa League match at Aston Villa on 6 November owing to safety concerns. The decision was taken by Birmingham’s safety advisory group, based on advice from the West Midlands police, who said the match would be “high risk” based on “current intelligence and previous incidents, including violent clashes and hate crime offences that occurred during the 2024 Uefa Europa League match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Amsterdam”. There is more on the announcement here. The decision prompted widespread condemnation from political leaders. Keir Starmer said: This is the wrong decision. We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets. This is a national disgrace. How have things come to this? A serious mistake by WM Police. You don’t tackle antisemitism by banning its victims. This decision must be reversed. From the moment that the match was announced, it was clear that there were latent safety risks that even our capable security and police authorities would not be able to fully manage. With so much hostility and uncertainty around the match, it was only right to take drastic measures. As Israel continues its assault on Gaza, killing thousands and devastating civilian infrastructure, sporting fixtures involving Israeli teams cannot be separated from the wider political context. Hosting such teams sends a message of normalisation and indifference to mass atrocities. [The decision is] just completely and utterly unacceptable, and the prime minister has said we will do everything we possibly can to resolve this issue. It’s an operational issue for the police, and government doesn’t get involved in operational issues for the police. Continue reading...

But we can be in a position as a country where we look at fans history of behaviour and judge whether it is safe to have them there and under what conditions. Being Israeli doesn’t change that calculus

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

"House slave."
Think about this for a brief moment. Think of just how fecal and vicious a man has to use such a term in this context. This is leadership by the absolute worst of us, the most vile trash that we could scrape from the gutter and elevate to govern a nation.

Two years after they closed all Jewish schools in Berlin. Was talking just today about how we don't talk about genocide enough in terms not only of all the lives stolen, but all the future lives stolen too, of the civilisations that never got to be. Europe would be unimaginably different today.

BMI is bullshit. It always puts me at least one category over where I am. Judging by my RENPHO scales (which have their own bullshit, to be fair) I’d have to get rid of everything but my muscle, including my skeleton, to be at a healthy bmi.
