I would also just like to point out that to whatever extent nonprofits and churches *do* step up to help meet some portion of the need that is being cruelly inflicted on the poor for no reason, that is time, energy, and money that cannot now be used to meet *other* needs

Faith leaders — as well as faith-based food banks — have long argued they absolutely cannot independently handle the raw number of people currently served by government food assistance programs.

And all of this time with her is such a gift. But the stages of watching her age... It's hard. She's still so excited to do things her body can't do anymore. Some Laney pics for tax. She's a very good girl.

Today we are instituting a one stair trip per day policy. She goes downstairs at the start of the day, the gate goes up, and she stays down there until it's time to go to bed. One day soon, we will likely have to make her a downstairs only dog which I know she'll hate.

We also stopped taking her on any walks at all. She wants to, but she just can't walk very far. We bought a rug for one big area of tile downstairs so she'd move a little easier down there. She still finds patches of tile to lay down on and then fail to get up from 🙄😂

Six months ago it became a budget line item we make sure happens every month. Three months back she started getting pain meds orally as needed for her bad days, and on those days we'd put up a gate across the bottom of the stairs limiting her stair usage unless we were watching.

My dog is aging and the grief I feel over it is so... Persistent. I'm so thankful we have had so many years with her and that she has no immediate health concerns. A few years back we started getting her Librella (arthritis treatment) shots monthly when we could afford it.

I prepped a lesson on Ephesians and the teens only wanted to talk about Luke (boo) so I talked about Luke and then AHA! rector is preaching on Ephesians!!! TAKE THAT. U can't avoid Ephesians!!! 🕯️
