It did this because reporters would not sign onto a new media policy over its implicit threat of criminalizing national security reporting and exposing those who sign it to potential prosecution.
The Pentagon Press Association's members are still committed to reporting on the U.S. military. But make no mistake, today, Oct. 15, 2025 is a dark day for press freedom that raises concerns about a weakening U.S. commitment to transparency in governance, to public accountability at the Pentagon and to free speech for all.

The Supreme Court is hearing arguments against the Voting Rights Act that could overturn key provisions that prohibit racial discrimination in redistricting. Some are suggesting this could lead to a one-party future. Given that I once voted Republican but left the party to become an independent when I could no longer tolerate the increasing hypocrisy and shift to the right, I feel qualified to explain how you can become a good modern Republican.
Here’s your quick-start guide:
1. Learn to hate government spending. Except when it’s a farm subsidy, a military contract, aid to a foreign ally, or a tax break for your district.
2. Remember that climate change is fake. Until your insurance company triples your home premiums, in which case it’s China’s fault. Remember to say, “the climate has always changed.”
3. Invoke Jesus early and often. You don’t actually have to follow his teachings — just make sure to say “as a person of faith” before explaining your positions that Jesus would find appalling.

"4. Blame “the elites.” (While investing in their companies.)
5. Adopt selective outrage. Deficit under Democrats? Catastrophe. Deficit under Republicans? Patriotic growth strategy.
6. Declare your undying love for freedom. Especially the freedom to ban books, control women’s bodies, and decide who can marry whom.
7. Study “Patriotism 101.” Remember, flying five flags from your truck automatically makes your opinions more valid.
8. Embrace victimhood. The media is always out to get you — unless it’s Fox, which now happens to echo your every thought.
9. Be pro-business, anti-regulation, and anti-worker. Call it “the free market.”
10. And finally — keep voting for people who tell you democracy is rigged. That’s how you know you’re doing it right."
