Of 614 people included in a recent court order, just 16 of them — roughly two percent — had a meaningful existing criminal record. Those 16 — just sixteen! — included five with domestic battery charges, two drunken driving records, one narcotics convictions, and five who faced other battery charges, two of which involved guns, and one person who is said to have a criminal history in some country overseas. Just one was deemed a “national security risk” and “no one had any convictions for murder or rape,” the Chicago Tribune reported. The local police in a city like Chicago or D.C. surely arrest more serious criminals in run-of-the-mill encounters across a single weekend than CBP and ICE managed to round up in weeks.

I think blocking Axios long ago was a good thing to do.
So yeah, I hate Axios, and they deserve to be hated, and they deserve to be sneered at and publicly mocked for this goddamned fucking stupid thing they wrote about James Talarico, which went up last Sunday and still sits there, without as much as a note from the editor that they’ve finally fired Alex Thompson for being such an eager piss trough for laundering MAGA messaging. But this is all just so typical, this desperate attempt to find a both-sides angle to every single thing. But there’s literally no story here! This is not like Republican sex scandal stories in any which way.

When they told me, I thought it might be a prank, like I wasn’t speaking to an actual representative of the company. It was too stupid to believe, and I was hesitant to share it until they confirmed it. BlueSky threatens freedom of speech. Anyone’s account can be wiped out for any reason with no recourse.
