It's about time Strange Days finally begins getting the retrospective love and respect it deserves. To me, it's the best pre-Matrix cyberpunk film other than Blade Runner and Robocop, and still better than most cyberpunk films made since.

30 years ago, Katherine Bigelow made a sci-fi flop that changed her career for the better
Strange Days is a noir-soaked science-fiction thriller set against a backdrop of racial tension, police brutality, sexual assault, and disruptive tech

This is why the inflatable costumes works so well -- it works the same way calling them "weird" or "creepy" did. It disrupts their narrative, and makes them seem pathetic rather than cool-and-cruel.
You need to see this:

Heard someone mention the movie Sneakers so I’m going to have to watch Sneakers again. One of the all time great movie casts: Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, River Phoenix, Dan Ackroyd, Sir Ben Kingsley, James Earl Jones, Howard Tobolowsky. One of the great hacker heist movies

Since it came out on this day (see last RT for context) it's worth noting that NEW NIGHTMARE only existed because Bob Shaye apologized and gave Wes retroactive pay for all the years they were milking Freddy without his involvement.
Feel good movie, anyone?

Red Rooms is a tense, evocative, subtle, and complex film that pairs well w movies like Anatomy of a Fall. Billed as horror due to events that happen offscreen, but more of a hybrid. Disturbing, dislocating, with stunning choreography and acting. (Def understand aversion to watching it, tjo.)

Update: The ISS has suffered a massive estradiol leak. All the astronauts are now women. NASA cannot reach them because they're too busy making out.

have been thinking of rewatching THE FIRST PURGE in light of the federal paramilitaries trying to instigate violence and provoke a reaction from americans
Watched this while baking my quiche 🥰
It doesn’t get any better than Mario Bava and Val Lewton. A perfect combo.

Needless to say, Jennifer Lopez playing a 1940s horror villainess capturing the heart and soul of a trans cinephile who joins the revolution by rendezvousing with radicals at a screening of Cat People (1981) is very much my jam. boxd.it/bjNLgd #filmsky
