It’s so true that “women are human” seems to be the message that isn’t getting through a lot of the time. Men will ask for tips like they’re looking for cheat codes, anything that will work universally on all women, since we’re apparently a monolith. People are not video games or vending machines!!

Are there any good resources on conversational skills aimed at men, aside from Dr. Nerdlove and like, Dale fuckin Carnegie?

Most such resources seem to emphasize “demonstrating your value”/basically peacocking, rather than like… asking your date interesting & astute questions about herself.

It’s wild that the bot asked him to think of one specific, human detail he could insert to personalize his message, and he chose not to even do that.

Like, yeah, use an A.I. if you want your messages to be bland, unmemorable, & unexciting. Use your brain if you want a human connection instead.

When he met someone in a bar one Friday night and swapped social media handles, he asked AI what his next move should be.
ChatGPT discerned that sending an initial message on Monday midmorning would set the right pace. "Then it gave me some options for what the message could be," says Rich.
"Keep it light, warm, and low-stakes so it reads as genuine interest without urgency," the bot advised. "Something like: Hey Sarah, still laughing about [tiny shared moment/reference if you've got one] - good to meet you!" Rich went back and forth with ChatGPT until he felt they'd hit upon exactly the right message ("Hey Sarah, it was lovely to meet you") but sadly she never replied, he says. "It's been two weeks now."
