It’s lovely to see folks migrating here. If we haven’t had a proper introduction yet: hi, I’m Jess, a submerged landscapes archaeologist. Native of Appalachia, currently thrilled to be in Yorkshire. I love cats, goth metal, baking, and a good pint. Nice to see y’all here - tell me about yourselves!

So, things are going JUST GREAT.

Don’t be That Guy. Vaccinate your kids.
Unbelievable.

Very few things piss me off more than anti-vax morons killing their children.

And I am quite sure this doggo was the best of doggos, too. All of them are.
In a cave in Liguria, ca. 14 thousand years ago, a group of humans and a single dog walked together in a cave and explored its depths. Their overlapping footprints and tracks are one of the oldest direct evidence of human-dog interactions 🐾🐕 #DogDomestication 🦣🏺🧪
The dog domestication: new ichnological evidence from the Upper Palaeolithic of the Bàsura cave (Toirano, NW Italy)
The Grotta della Bàsura (Bàsura Cave) provides invaluable evidence of human-canid interactions during the Upper Palaeolithic. It offers unique insight…

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

I'm a USMMA grad and resigned from USAF as an O-4. There is nothing more critical to the US Armed Services than the trust of the American People.

All of these deployments into cities are being determined unlawful by courts. At this point, it's manifestly illegal.

You must ignore unlawful orders.

This really isn’t hard, people. Either you favor violence against those with whom you disagree;

Or, you’re not a Nazi.

Pick one.
The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

Bill Clinton was the most powerful man in the world, and Monica Lewinsky was an intern and his subordinate, and in any other workplace that would be called sexual harassment, and if you don't take power dynamics into account when you talk about things like this, you don't actually understand consent

Your only possible response, when confronted with someone saying this, is to wait for them to finish, firmly state “What the actual fuck is wrong with you?” and leave the interview immediately.
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Cosigned. As @pattonoswalt.bsky.social just said: Wood chipper, feet first.
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

Well. That’s not the best look, is it?

Things are about to get VERY messy. And I do love this for all of them.

My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

Do not look away.
Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.

This is the facility that I and many others have been protesting. We’ve been hit, thrown, gassed, and shot with pepper bullets but none of that holds a candle to what is being done to people *in* the actual facility.

Read this thread. Don’t look away. Keep your eyes and the pressure on Broadview.
A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.
