Mass popular culture has wound up in a place of pure pattern recognition—cheering when you see your fave onscreen. The culture is primed for this. Is it fundamentally empty and unsatisfying? Will they generate 100 Spider-Man & Baby Yoda hangs and feel depressed? Sure! Disney still gets the revenue.
