If you see this, quote the energy you bring to Bluesky
The ship's doctor of The Surprise is interrupted in his examination of a creature on the Gallapagos Islands. The good doctor just wants to study flora and fauna but is stuck on a warship during wartime.

Oh and somewhat related observation:

Walking thru the parking lot felt like being transported to an oversized vehicle lot: only big SUVs and huge killer pickups aloud. Maybe this is characteristic of Long Island or maybe this is just how parking lots outside NYC are now?

I didn't get a close look -- just heard and smelled them everywhere.

I fantasize about that all the time.

We took a trip to London this summer. More than half of the ice cream trucks there advertised that they were green/solar/battery powered. Amazing.

At a soccer tournament for kid #1

There are a LOT of diesel generators

I've read about efforts to get mobile batteries into the mix for disaster recovery. Soccer tourneys etc. seem like a good secondary (or primary?) use case for the business model.

I'll just say that I have a very different approach to deadlines

I'm married to this person and lemme tell you it's an adventure even when the experience is vicarious.

Wanna guess when this article was published in Scientific American?

(No cheating)
The Heat Pump
Invented a century ago and widely applied in recent years, the device that utilizes the temperature of the ground or the air to heat and cool houses is still evolving

Project's going well, in case you were wondering
Still from There Will Be Blood. Daniel Plainview, played by Daniel Day Lewis, watches as a team pushes explosives toward a burning oil derrick to extinguish it.

Arson, mostly

... some (most?) of the H2 hubs were a political solution to IRA coalition building and a maybe-solution to real problems ...

Still, arson.

This is the most accurate depiction of the Midwest to date. Wichita has always felt like the last Midwest city while also being the first plains city.

Question for the #EnergySky lawyers in the room:

Know of any fun* recent examples of a utility commission getting remanded on the grounds that its action/decision/order was unduly preferential or discriminatory?

*not required, but bonus points will be awarded for examples that are more fun

My mother in law just got a Copper range (electric oven, induction cooktop, battery-in-the-bottom so no wiring upgrade required). Results:

(1) she *loves* it; and

(2) the crew that installed her cabinets and the range were impressed (& mildly shocked) that you can just plug it into a wall outlet
