This reminded me of a Majority Report interview w David Rushkoff. Rushkoff describes being approached by several billionaire preppers, all of whom were concerned with how to maintain control over their security and help during a bunker scenario. It's a fascinating interview.

3. Dwyer was also the founder and president of KU's TP USA chapter and, after Kirk's assassination, said he hoped to prevent "divisive rhetoric".
The man who founded a chapter of Charlie Kirk's organization was afraid of "divisive" rhetoric. Just incredible stuff.

2. One member of the chat was Alex Dwyer, the chair of the Kansas Young Republicans. He joked about trump covering up the Epstein scandal.
A story in several parts:
1. Private chat of young Republicans from across the country is leaked. Shocker, they're casually discussing gassing perceived enemies and using the n word.
Just learned that prisoners in Kansas are required to work unless they have a medical exception or some other approved reason. If they work for the prison itself, they are paid $.09/hr. 9 cents. If they work for a private company, the prison takes a cut (25% iirc) for "room & board".

This rule basically prevents any coverage of what the government is doing. Extremely dark!
This is one of the darkest ways I've seen media censor content depicting this fascist/authoritarian push: it's apparently not joyful to show the American gestapo arresting journalists for doing journalism.
Huh: TikTok took down my 8-second video featuring this image of Debbie Brockman — the news producer just detained by Trump’s CBP agents — saying it violates the “joy of TikTok”

eventually politicians need to start advocating for criminal and civil penalties for people involved in fabricating stories to get citizens incarcerated.

or, put another way: a society that would like to keep functioning has to discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authorities

If God created Adam first, why did he give Adam nipples? Or did he give Adam nipples after creating Eve so that Adam wouldn't feel left out? Any theologians out there, I'd appreciate some insight into this!
The secret police of the "party of personal responsibility" wearing masks to carry out their raids is illuminating as to what they mean when they say "personal responsibility".
Why is 'talentless hack' in quotation marks?
Imagine being a Yankees fan as a grown-ass adult. Like with the full use of your faculties and everything.
Jeffrey Reiman developed what he called the "Pyrrhic Defeat Theory" when studying the criminal legal system. In short, the system's failure to control crime/provide public safety provides such benefits for the capitalist class that it amounts to a success. Seems to be equally applicable here.

As ICE continues to terrorize Chicagoland, protesters gathered this morning outside the Broadview detention center—throwing stuffed animals at DHS agents, playing music through tear gas assaults, and putting their bodies on the line to stop ICE vehicles. My latest.

A very big Onion announcement:

The Onion has spent the last two months working on a masterpiece.

It's a documentary titled Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile.

It's so good, in fact, we were set to release it in theatres nationwide on October 2nd.

Then two weeks ago, Charlie Kirk was shot.

That's what an endorsement is! Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for reasons that aren't "AIPAC told me I can't"
Asked why he hasn't endorsed Zohran Mamdani, Hakeem Jeffries replies: "I'm going to make that decision on an individual basis, consulting with other members of the congressional delegation and beyond."
