Catastrophic nature loss is at least as serious a problem as climate breakdown, but only gets a fraction of the (woefully inadequate) attention.

THE most critical tasks of our time are:
• Protect what remains of wild ecosystems
• Mass rewilding where damaged or lost

Africa's natural wildlife 'power' has nearly collapsed
Scientists warn that losing Africa’s large animals is draining ecosystem energy and reshaping the continent’s biodiversity.

40 year anniversary of my workplace, the Modum Bad Research Institute.
Several prominent guests are present, and we are starting with a lecture by Professor Jaime Delgadillo. So important with his focus on and inclusion of sociodemographic and economic factors in personalised psychotherapy research:

A hate-driven agenda stoked by politicians & pundits has fuelled violence, intimidation & division.

But we know the truth:
❌ Free speech is NOT a cover for hate speech
❌ Inciting hatred is NOT defending freedom
❌ Migration is NOT to blame for political and economic turmoil. It’s a scapegoat.

Very excited (w/ @omarjcamanto.bsky.social) to share our preprint tutorial for using our R 📦 dySEM for #dyadic data analysis with latent variables, in cross-sectional data sets.

This paper has been literal years in the making, and provides three distinct tutorials.

Great thread by @ipanalysis.bsky.social on AI and qualitative analysis (and other things). I remain completely baffled about the enthusiasm for using AI to do qualitative analysis and (reflexive) TA specifically... not least because it is profoundly unethical, exploitative, eco disaster technology
Uncharacteristcally long 🧵 (sorry) re: #Qualitative methodologies, science, and 'AI'.

As Qualitative researchers, we should definitely care and remain curious about what 'good work' can look like - but we should be very wary about assuming that a focus on 'rigour' will address this question. 1/13

Poland-Norway by train, part 1.

First leg is Sopot-Poznañ. I have already recieved a notice that my schedule Sopot-Berlin is no longer possible. That was a bit stressful, but also freed me to take any train today. So I took the 8 train to Poznañ, instead of the 10 train, just in case.

Just finished this amazing book and I’m feeling a bit nostalgic for the time before postmodernism took it’s hold.

Maybe we should revive getting «back to the things themselves» with Husserl or thinking more about socioeconomic conditions, with Beauvoir & Sartre.

Our for-profit health care system is not only broken & cruel, it's extremely wasteful.

While we spend billions on stock buybacks, CEO compensation & denying needed care, Medicare for All would save $650 billion & 68,000 lives a year per CBO & Yale University. Let's get it done.
