Humanity’s goal is clear - we must stop this cycle of suffering and atrocities, and finally bring an end to the unlawful occupation of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and to dismantle Israel’s system of apartheid on the Palestinian people.

After two years of a livestreamed genocide and unimaginable loss, agreement on the first phase of a ceasefire deal that allows some humanitarian aid into Gaza and releases the hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners is overdue.

However, this cannot be another brief pause in the violence.

Police Scotland has decided move ahead with the use of Live Facial Recognition technology by law enforcement in Scotland.
Amnesty firmly opposes the use of this dangerous technology.

This horror has been made possible with the support of Israel’s allies, like the UK, and the tightening of Israel’s 18-year-long illegal blockade that has inflicted unimaginable suffering.

It’s been two years since Israel began its brutal onslaught against Palestinians in Gaza. Over 67,000 Palestinians - mostly civilians - have been killed. Most of the population has been forcibly displaced, starved and subjected to conditions of life calculated to destroy Palestinians in Gaza.

It’s been two years since the deadly Hamas-led attacks in southern Israel, during which at least 1,200 Israelis and other nationals - mostly civilians - were killed and 251 people were taken hostage, of which 20 are still alive and held in Gaza.

According to Tell MAMA there has been a significant rise in the number of Islamophobic hate cases in the UK between June & Sept 2025. Not including the most recent horrific attack, there have been 17 reported cases that involved attacks on mosques or Islamic institutions in this time period.

We are deeply saddened by & condemn the attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.

Acts of violence have no place in our society. Politicians & the media must ensure their actions in the following days don't stoke division further.

We must focus on the humanity that connects us all.

There are serious human rights concerns around not only the proscription of Palestine Action, but also the chilling consequences this decision has had. The UK's overly broad terrorism laws are being misused to suppress free speech.

Almost 40% of “Prevent” referrals to counter‑terrorism police are CHILDREN between 11 and 15 years old. Nearly HALF are Muslim or Asian.
