I finally got a digital drawing tablet this year. Here's me tooling around on it early this summer, figuring out how it works.

I finally had enough down time to photograph “ghost forest”, my big sculpture from my October firing. The results were just spectacular!
A large roundish clay beast, about 18” long, shot against a grey backdrop. There’s tree stumps on the back. Front view of the same beast. It has a smooth head, with no features other than a downturned mouth with porcelain teeth. Back side of the beast. It’s red/brown/black. All the color is from melted wood ash from the firing. There’s many subtle shades and textures.

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I enjoyed Art Advent last year and plan to participate again this year.

It's nice to remind myself I HAVE been making things, despite all the sad and trouble and tired.

Even if it's much less than I'd like to be making, I'm still here, I'm still trying, and it's not nothing.
