Your correspondent (Letters, ″⁣Not only in America″⁣, 16/12) should point out to his American friends that when they can count the number of mass shootings in 30 years on one hand, they can discuss the complexities of Australian gun violence. I do.

Since the horrific events of the first night of Chanukah, we have been moved by the support that has come from across Australia for the Jewish community.

For those wanting to show their support, we invite you to join us and @GetUp and take a photo of a candle by your window.

Very few politicians are willing to state the obvious - a failure of Australia's intelligence apparatus.

Father/son terrorist attack, with long links to Islamic State characters and IS flags in the car?

Nothing to see here apparantly.

Maybe I'm just old, but it might have been relevent to mention that CPC is the former Packer empire. Scant mention of the UK owners, but they are a private equity firm, so you don't really know who's in there. However the article could have named the firm. It's "Terra Firma" if I recall. #rural

@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social is absolutely correct: coal, oil and gas are not mandatory. Rampant capitalism is not inevitable. ExxonMobil isn't all-powerful.
This is what happens when non-climate scientists write about the climate crisis without really understanding where we are or where we are headed
