Grieve with those who grieve - Bondi is close to hand and raw, the trauma it has caused has ripples to Muslims who have suffered from ISIS, for refugees who have experienced violence & torture, for First peoples who experienced massacres over a century & a half

Oh yes, kindergartens, those incubators of hate.

Imagine if the same approach was considered to address all forms of bigotry, or violence against women, or any of the issues that are genuinely rampant among the population.

Your correspondent (Letters, ″⁣Not only in America″⁣, 16/12) should point out to his American friends that when they can count the number of mass shootings in 30 years on one hand, they can discuss the complexities of Australian gun violence. I do.

Father/son terrorist attack, with long links to Islamic State characters and IS flags in the car?

Nothing to see here apparantly.

Maybe I'm just old, but it might have been relevent to mention that CPC is the former Packer empire. Scant mention of the UK owners, but they are a private equity firm, so you don't really know who's in there. However the article could have named the firm. It's "Terra Firma" if I recall. #rural

Counterpoint: physical scientists are wildly unqualified to provide insight on the social, political and technological shifts required.

@rebeccasolnit.bsky.social is absolutely correct: coal, oil and gas are not mandatory. Rampant capitalism is not inevitable. ExxonMobil isn't all-powerful.
This is what happens when non-climate scientists write about the climate crisis without really understanding where we are or where we are headed
