It’s such a dull romanticized version of rural life. It’s like the embodiment of the “all hat no cowboy” saying. It’s like all stollen valor for people who actually live pretty disconnected from society. It’s kinda like stollen farm valor masking an anti-social personality disorder

Someone on the local Facebook group posted a picture of someone car with a t*ump hat and said “fuck t*ump” and I think there were 80 something comments, every one of them defending t*ump 🥴🥴🤡

Love living in rural Queensland, where majority of people are right wing, racist, homophobic, misogynists.🥲

As a gay Latino in a rural area, I get the frustration. Maybe organizers just aren’t reaching minority communities effectively in rural areas. The thing about MAGA’s autocratic policies is, they impact us all.

I’m loving the size of protests in the rural towns of red states!

Even republicans are fed up (maga will always be insane tho so no hope there)

Today’s historic pic: Exactly 40 years ago today we see the second station at Binalong, NSW, October 19 1985. Located 354km south of Sydney on the NSW main South line, this station was built in 1915 when the line was deviated. It had closed to passengers four months before this photo was taken.

While for me, the community in person is fleeting. It only shows up a couple times a month. Otherwise, it's back to the rural outpost.

Also, I took a trip through rural Pennsylvania not long ago and the place was blanketed with Trump flags flying next to Israeli flags. Sometimes you'd see Old Glory in the mix but not always. No biggie?
There are many, many American flags too.

This is a Mexican-American city. It's right there in the fucking name. Mexican-Americans are under siege here right now, undocumented immigrants and citizens alike. The Mexican flag is symbolizes the protest against that violent crackdown, nothing more.
This guy really gets to the heart of what happened today.

I'd do that thing where I say "i wish I'd found this album sooner", but no, it obviously found me at exactly the right time - in an extremely rural petrol station - because I am absolutely loving it.

To be clear this is only slightly worse than rural republicans who are extremely hateful and hold a grievance many believe can only be sated by blood.

I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people who turned out today in my small rural town.
Take note of all these people turning out for protests in small towns in red states.

Remember them the next time you’re inclined to write an area off because “they voted for this.”

So don’t say I’m wrong. Cameron Kasky made a similar observation on MSNBC’s The Weekend as to the event he attended (I missed where.) @suzette.bsky.social is right that it depends on the area, but we still need to reach out to grow diversity participation in our ranks, particularly in rural areas.

About half the organizers and volunteers at the rally in rural Minnesota I went to were PTA moms and older church ladies. Armies wish they had that kind of support structure!

I wasn’t able to go to a protest today as it is a dialysis day for DH, but we saw one spot in our our rural red county fill up when we picked up our Drive and Go groceries. 3 spots in a county of 80,000 people that always votes red. #NoKings was everywhere! Local Dems organized, nothing nat’l.

Dogs and I went through a No Kings protest today on our way to the beach for our walk. I didn't think there'd be one here because it's so rural and I was impressed with the turnout. It was a joy to see-lots of animal costumes, several Statues of Liberty, 1 Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and now I want...

Nailed it. Real Americans live everywhere. Dividing us into these two factions has only fueled those rural communities hatred of progressive politics.
