Lets just say no one has ever complimented me on my agreeableness.

We are conditioned by the things we are valued for.

I was thinking about this because my dog is really really ridiculously cute looking to the point that she has basically never seen a face that wasnt smiling at her in her life and the things she will do to get attention from people are extreme.

Was thinking today about how hearing ppl tell me “you’re so smart” from as far back as i can remember even as a child, and the result of internalizing being valued for that, has played a role in my position of extreme aversion to a cognitive impairment causing infection.

After he died I found my dad’s Soviet patent for this system. Which, of course, meant nothing there. Hard to even contemplate what his life
would have been like if he had gotten it here. Cant say the concept of living in the wrong place at the wrong time feels abstract personally.

Some of these people have now been fired and rehired TWICE since January. The current state of dysfunction is mind boggling.

OOOPS! UPDATE: Two HHS officials tell me that disease detectives, measles response officers, global health officials and the MMWR staff were laid off by mistake and will be reinstated. But Washington office is still RIFed

BREAKING: Friday night massacre underway at CDC. Doznes of "disease detectives," high-level scientists, entire Washington staff and editors of the MMWR (Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report) have all been RIFed and received the following notice:

In the USSR my father invented a ventilation system that kept produce fresh on trains from the farms to the cities. However this created a surplus, which was unacceptable under communism, so he was forced to make his system worse, so that some of the produce would rot. Anyway.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
Business Insider headline reads: UPS is telling customers that their packages coming to the US are marked for destruction.

When ur not smiling at my dog, this is what ur not smiling at
A fluffy frenchie that looks like a real life muppet making a face that looks like a frog

Got pulled over tonight and the cop took one look at my dog and said “what a cutie!” Looked at my license
and said “just slow down for me ok?” And that was it. Like forget white privilege. Nothing even comes close to lilac fluffy frenchie privilege. Never experienced anything like this before.

Texas is preparing emergency resources for wildfires and floods. The Texas National Guard should be THERE — not in Illinois.

We stand ready to support their return home so they are best positioned for helping Texans respond to any natural disasters.
Abbott activates emergency resources ahead of growing wildfire threat, flood risk in Texas
With expected growing wildfire danger across Texas and the potential for a flood risk this weekend, Gov. Greg Abbott is activating more state emergency response resources Friday.

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

“Workers continued to see elevated health-related absences linked to COVID-19…

[which] has likely raised the value to workers of paid-leave policies & existing social safety net programs.

Measures to reduce COVID-19 transmission in the workplace may also mitigate these new exposure risks”
Enduring Outcomes of COVID-19 Work Absences on the US Labor Market
This cohort study examines the extent to which COVID-19 continues to generate work absences and decrease labor force participation beyond the pandemic period in the US.

Religious leaders here are not mincing words. They have repeatedly used the word "evil."

"Detention and deportation are acts that wound the body of Christ, and deny the dignity of God's people."

Heartbreaking reading, but this Reddit thread gives a sense of the relentlessness of the horror inflicted by ICE, and the damage being done to so many innocent people that doesn't make the news.

Trump said he deserved a cut for brokering the TikTok deal, and at once there was agreement that his son Baron would have a top executive slot... though he hasn't asked for it, and has no apparent qualifications to hold it. This is how Trump 2.0 works. www.telegraph.co.uk/us/news/2025...

The 1st recorded child victim of the disability euthanasia program was handed over by his own parents. Some of the parents knew what was going to become of their disabled children and saw "participation" in the program as patriotic.

The moral here is ppl can be convinced of anything.

Read it all. From one small section:

Shortly after a man fired >500 rounds at CDC and killed a cop, the staff that safeguard employee, facility, and data security are gone. And the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, that trains and supports risk management across the entire agency, is gone.
Beyond that, the CDC will not be able to function administratively, as the Office of Safety, Security, and Asset Management (OSSAM) office, which safeguards employee, facility, and data security at CDC lost its entire Occupational Health and Safety Office. Barely two months after a gunman shot more than 500 rounds at CDC and killed a police officer, the office devoted to employee safety has been The Workplace Health Office was also RIFed, as was the Office of Strategic Business Initiatives, which is charged with training and supporting risk management across the entire agency. Not only have the CDC employees been terminated, but the ones who remain will be forced to function within an organization that has eliminated mechanisms for looking after their well-being, safety, and ability to effectively do their jobs to carry out the CDC mission.

Meanwhile the world has stopped buying American orange juice.
It now trades at 43% of the price it went for when Trump took office.

Turns out protest alone was never what changed things, it was protest *plus media coverage of protests*, which prompted officials to respond to protests, which increased public awareness of protests, etc.

If the protest happens & corporate media simply ignores it ... it's inert.
ineptitudinous.bsky.social
Six out of eight of the largest mass-movement protests in US history have happened since 2017. You wouldn't know this from most media reporting, and you sure af wouldn't know this from the way either major party has reacted.
