On Fox Business, Cuomo continued to paint an ominous picture of New York City under Zohran Mamdani if he is elected mayor and questioned his allegiance to America and the city. “Dual-citizenship, he was a citizen of Uganda, his parents own a mansion in Uganda, he’s spent a lot of time there,” Cuomo said. He went on to again invoke 9/11 in conjunction with the candidacy of Mamdani, who was a 9-year-old boy living in New York when the attacks took place. “He just doesn’t understand the New York culture, the New York values, what 9/11 meant.”

It wasn't so much what Zohran Mamdani said. It was how he said it.
"We're going to stand up for Haiti, because you taught the world about freedom!" the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York exclaimed to an elated crowd at a Haitian music festival in June, fresh off his upset victory in the primary.
Mr. Mamdani pronounced the island nation's name "AH-ee-tee" - near-perfect Creole elocution.
"When I heard him say that, I smiled," recalled Brian Purnell, one of Mr. Mamdani's former professors at Bowdoin College. He also noted that Mr. Mamdani's reference to freedom was a nod to Haiti's status as the first republic founded by former slaves.

Struck me at the end of Trump's first term, post-impeachment, that even when he got bipartisan support (like for CARES) he didn't invite Dems to the bill signing.

I think about this bc there's a kneejerk political media instinct to ask Dems how they'll unify the country and it's getting very silly.
