I am shocked that young republicans would ecxhange texts that include racist slurs, antisemitic tropes, Hitler praise, and jokes about violence, gas chambers, slavery, & rape. Can't begin to imagine where they got that from, or why they thought that was okay. Clutch my pearls, why don't you?

Honestly, lately I'd rather sit around with a cat, listening to heavy riffs, and scrolling through socmed for interesting or silly posts, than read a book. I suppose at some point I'll read a book again.

I think what's bothering me about all these statements I'm seeing from politicians that are variations of "Israeli hostages and Palestinians are returning to their homes, yay" is that Israelis are returning to their homes and Palestinians are returning to uninhabitable post apocalyptic rubble.

So far TODAY Israel has:

- bombed Gaza City
- bombed Khan Younis
- shot and killed five Palestinians in Gaza City
- refused to open the Rafah border crossing
- announced they would once more block aid

This is what a "ceasefire" with Israel looks like. This is what it has always looked like.

I don't know if this is unhinged but a lot of poets today who are both popular (as far as poetry is popular at all) and respected should really have been pop songwriters or ad jingle writers. Their poems are too definite about what they want to be definite about.

This is one of many reasons I prefer a trade paperback to any fancy special edition. I want a book I can read in the course of my actual everyday life, not something to enshrine on a shelf and occasionally gloat over.
