It feels like we're giving /pol/ far too much credit for shaping the culture war and are over-exaggerating Epstein's involvement. I think that because the people on here tend to be young and very online we concentrate on young and very online explanations...

Important thing to note here is that it's absurdly easy to post on this site as a human. As long as you have the API key and know how to POST Json, you can do anything on the site that the "bot" can do.

also the fact that there's no 1:1 correspondence between glyph and sound or even glyph and meaning - i have a relatively easy time with most languages because of the writing system but chinese feels totally beyond my capabilities

the thing that keeps me back is a) tones and b) (as with japanese) a glyph inventory i feel like i couldn't get a grip on in a hundred lifetimes
