Indiana University fires IDS
adviser amid push to control
student newspaper's content The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

I get exactly what he’s saying but to be clear the best nat sec reporters in businesses often don’t have pentagon press passes

Tom Bowman has held his Pentagon press pass for 28 years. He says the Pentagon's new media policy makes it impossible to be a journalist, which means finding out what's really going on behind the scenes and not accepting wholesale what any government or administration says. n.pr/4q87Jwb

I'm sure the WGN producer arrested in Chicago last week fit that description until she didn't.
All reporters are threatened. Especially women. Regardless of what they cover. Just ask one.

Johnson ain't engaging with that in a 20-minute briefing. We know quite a bit about his fealty to Trump, thanks to reporters.
Your social media argument, sometimes multiple times a day, is journalists aren't up to this. Are academics?
jasonjoyce.bsky.social
They don't get follow ups when they want. It's a scripted event.
It's also disappointing to see people take shots at "journalism" off a 30-second clip.
Reporters are out there risking lives. Literally.
jasonjoyce.bsky.social
I don't understand the appetite for attacking reporters over a 20-minute avail.
Everything we know about Trump's move toward authoritarianism is thanks to journalists.
jasonjoyce.bsky.social
You don't think he's been asked this and answered it? He has said that Trump's victory entitles him to do as he pleases. I'm sure I've seen Johnson say this >0 times.
The people in your comments really hate journalists. The stuff they say about reporters is moronic and angry. Like Russian bot level.

Interesting retort.
We all read Vance's book, and by this logic, we should question the source, a right-wing politician.

STEPHANOPOULOS: ProPublica reported that several members of the Trump administation have similar questions about their mortgages

VANCE: ProPublica is basically a left-wing blog

S: Do you dispute the facts they reported?

VANCE: I haven't read it. I have no idea. I certainly question the source

New — Video shared with me shows ICE officers in DC detaining a man on Friday.

Bystander filming asks man for his name. ICE agent lies and says he’s not allowed to speak to him “by law” and another says “We’ve arrested American citizens for being too close…If he gets any closer, put him in cuffs.”

The most damning thing about this Wisconsin thing tonight is that losing 37-0 or 51-0 or 20-0 would all be the same thing re: what everyone can see happening to that program. Non-competitive. Let themselves become Maryland. Brutal to get into a spot where you really do have to fire Fickell
