It's already too late. I just don't want to make it too easy for lower level actors directed by foreign governments or the occasional idiot as I'm saving myself for the apocalyps where I make the house calls, not the other way around.
If you want to shoot the messenger to avoid having to discuss the message. The NATO secretary general is merely the US liaison to NATO. You hate on him all you like, I never voted for the guy, but he's doing a good job.

The situation isn't the same. The area isn't the same and the circumstances are different. russia is at war now. A war it can't easily get out of. No one knows exactly what would've happened. Maybe next time we'll find out, but even then the situation will have evolved after repeated warnings.
