Or maybe that works, because you can re-edit the markdown stored separately in post_content_filtered, and upon saving the markdown it will get parsed to HTML and update the post_content. Feels janky but that might be the answer.

I think the content needing to be stored as some sort of HTML rules this out as a possibility. At least that was my conclusion when I looked into it. So you can *parse* markdown with WP Githuber MD or something but it’s saved as HTML
