Not joking, either

1968 - Vietnam (Chennault Affair)
1980 - Iran (hostage crisis resolved 20 minutes after Reagan inaugurated)
2016 - Russia (hacking)
2024 - Israel

If he was no different from the others then why was he removed from his position as governor and sent back to Spain in chains to be jailed for his excessive brutality?

It genuinely is not actually hard to condemn the actions of the Israeli state without engaging in blatant, naked gutter antisemitism.

The issue isn't that this is some nuanced and complicated topic, the issue is that people want to do antisemitism because they have discovered bigotry feels good.

There are like dozens of people here who think this guy is endorsing "blood and soil" rhetoric who are just too mad to read. Do you think he's endorsing the use of "untermenschen" too? Or making a rhetorical point in a way you've seen a thousand people make one before

This joke is funny because it's saying Israelis are fake, rootless people who steal all their culture, see? Not a real ethnicity whose material culture is rooted in their blood and soil. No, some kind of sub-people.

This meme was heavily pushed by an influencer who claims Israel killed Charlie Kirk

Do you not get that he's describing how Nazis think about Jews?

I haven't read the book, but this sounds like it's more about adapting Ashkenazi cuisine to locally-grown ingredients rather than learning Levantine cooking?
While it criticizes European foodways as unhealthy and irrational, few recipes in Meyer's cookbook are rooted in Middle Eastern cuisine; most are European dishes adapted to the contemporary conditions of Palestine. This includes modified versions of goulash, sauerkraut, and a full section on potato dishes, a staple in Eastern European Jewish cooking. She does, however, urge the homemaker to consider replacing potatoes, which were expensive in Palestine, with the more easily accessible rice or bulgur, and likewise substitute olive oil for butter.

Imagine invading an American city for fascism then getting recalled because the dear leader saw you on TV and thought you were too fat and unattractive.

The Texas Military Department confirmed to @taskandpurpose.com it had replaced some of the 200 National Guard troops sent to Chicago for not being "in compliance" with validation standards. This came after photos of heavyset NG members were widely mocked. taskandpurpose.com/news/texas-n...

He chose Nazi phrasing because he's describing the Nazi viewpoint that he's saying the meme was made from.
ivysorta.bsky.social
These folks are always inclined to go for the shallowest possible reading anyway, & they especially can't resist when they see an opportunity to "prove" that Jews are the real Nazis. It's like catnip to them.

(Some fool replying to this as if I'd said that Israel isn't doing genocide in 3... 2...)

Do you not get that that whole paragraph is describing the Nazi viewpoint that he's saying the meme he's commenting on was made from?
ivysorta.bsky.social
So you can recognize the phrase "blood and soil" as Nazism, but you don't recognize the entire rest of that paragraph as a description of the Nazi beliefs that he's saying this meme was made from? And so you think he's unironically talking up blood-and-soil as a good thing?

Bluesky is incredible.

It's not so much that they demand to see boobs everywhere - they're ok with games that have few or no women in them at all. It's that they hate seeing women who don't look like sex objects.

It’s just example # 486 of “reasonable nuanced critique of liberalism gets flattened to meaninglessness through a game of telephone”. Cogent critiques of aspects of respectability politics get turned into “it makes you a brave revolutionary to be the biggest asshole possible to everyone”

note that since mid-2010s you can always get a standing ovation in blue social media by denouncing the idea of civility or politeness more broadly. the experiment in how this has worked out keeps on yielding predictably unpleasant results

Erik Prince hasn't been involved with the company since like three mergers/name changes ago, though. I'm not sure how meaningfully comparable working for Constellis in 2018 really is to Blackwater in the 00s?
