God knows we need offshore windfarms so much more than we need to:
• destroy the seabed
• eradicate all marine life
• render seamounts lifeless
• destroy fishing, kai moana, local livelihoods
• send $millions to some arrogant Australian mining company

Seabed mine could produce devastating sediment flows, panel told
A controversial seabed mining project could lead to sediment flows which knock over rigs and damage wind turbines, the fast-track panel has heard.

We don't have enough electricity supply so let's make it worse yes
Environmentally destructive seabed mining OR the opportunity to have offshore renewable wind generation. The NZ Govt has fast tracked their donors seabed mining project. www.nzherald.co.nz/business/com...

I'm reading the new Social Sciences curriculum content and I wasn't prepared for how sad I would feel. We spent thousands of hours working with the previous iteration and the NZ history content and all that enthusiasm and excitement was just killed for something so bad.
ZB having conniptions... they can see its a vote winner so grasping at straws re those that can afford to go to the Dr being subsidised.

All of us benefit when kids get decent free lunches, free doctors & prescriptions and a proper welfare system for those unable or can't find work.

A reminder that the Greens have a much more thorough proposal based on tax reform that not only includes free GP visits but also...
* Free dental care
* Income support increases
* Building 35,000 new homes
* Residential clean power subsidies
* Unwinding pretty much all of Luxon's cuts
...and more.
Surely there's a better way using data from Te Whatu Ora? If not, maybe some database upgrades required there instead
If they do, their income tax goes up so it goes back to the govt anyway. Just need to keep the Nats out long enough for the policy to not be overturned.
LAB arent as left as media & RW parties claim. So a start in the correct direction by LAB is welcome. Medical card is nonsense & will eat up any savings, they need to make all GP visits free & ensure more GPs are available in hard to reach areas. Agree GRN & TPM should have bottom lines.
CGT-lite is a starting point and help some NAT voters move leftish. Those of us who want more will vote GRN or TPM. Those living in the past will stick with ACT or NZF.
I'm not sure the admin involved with a card is warranted... just fund all GP visits, it will save $ in the long term
PT would have made such a difference. There's so many of us down here in CHB that work up in Hastings or Napier... why can't we have a train?
Ha! Would be the only time I'd voluntarily listen to him
Why couldn't they do something useful like addressing the 3 x 1 way bridges on SH50 that have several serious accidents each year?

This post is from the beginning of October, but it’s important info
Trans Tasman Resources' 100% owner, Australian company Manuka Resources (MKR),yesterday published its annual report, which contains this warning from the auditors.
Yet this company is now selling shares on the NZX.

Just thinking if we hadn't cancelled i-Rex we would be taking delivery of 2 new hybrid, future proof ferries soon with two seismic upgraded ports. Imagine #nzpol

Also worth noting that our worst paid nurses in New Zealand, the ones whose pay equity claims were thrown in the trash by this government aren't able to join the strike today. But remember that primary health care, aged care and Māori health service nurses stand in solidarity with the strike.

You found $$$ for roads, tobacco industry, landlords, cancelling ferries, piddly tax cuts.

You cut a bunch of so-called 'back room' jobs that supported doctors, nurses, & teachers to do their work.

You froze hiring & refused to employ nurses

You outsourced curriculum development to AI and Aus.
Chris of the opposition doing a much better job of sounding like a PM than the current Chris's in govt

Not an economist, but I do feel discourse around rival political parties’ spending plans would be more productive if we all had a better understanding of the difference between an expense and an investment.
