Julia Hartley-Brewer: Why is colonialism bad?

Me: “When Britain arrived in 1700s, India had 27% of global GDP. After 200 years of theft and millions starved to death, by 1947 India had 3% of global GDP, 90% living below the poverty line, a literacy rate of 17% and life expectancy of 27”

Michael C. Rockefeller got shipwrecked in 1963, washed up on an island, and was promptly eaten by cannibals.

Half the time I post similar below, someone pops up with "except lithium batteries, they don't leak" because SOME lithium batteries are advertised as having never been known to leak.

If you can identify those good luck to you, otherwise get the batteries out of your old gear!

100% agree. Ironically, this is the only version of "broken windows" that actually makes any sense, because it has to do with the individual behavior of one person going from getting away with small crimes to getting away with big crimes, instead of being some vague theory about general contagion.
My hottest take is that letting cops park in red zones for mundane errands and coffee breaks; I think “you can break the law at your discretion as a job perk” is the small domino that ends in the large domino of “shooting protesters in the face with rubber bullets”
It must be wild to get to abuse the public then pay for it with the public's money

The Game Awards rolling out Tricia Helfer while music from Mass Effect was playing got me super excited for a moment and then immediately crushed when it wasn't something ME related.

I thought it was the shepard-is-now-a-spectre soundtrack but nonetheless instantly clocked it as mass effect + EDI and I am SO pissed off lmfao. Like WHY would they pick Mass Effect music!!! If not to talk about Mass Effect!!!!!!
I got fucking GOT by them playing Suicide Mission and them brining out EDI (Tricia Helfer)

there is a human cost associated with DPRK cyber crime that extends outside the essential slave-labor hours of the operators overseas. and it’s not the owners of the jacked cryptowallets or companies that have to evict insiders. it’s the people in the middle, some of whom are truly desperate humans.
Some of the DPRK stuff is super depressing. There's one scam where North Koreans pose as US tech workers and just get jobs at tech companies. But since tech companies typically issue corporate laptops, which the can track, they can't be mailed outside the US. So they need an insider to host them 1/?
