Schools aren't subject to HIPAA, fwiw. While I do see your point, though, I'm a school admin with Long COVID & really appreciate parents informing the school of symptoms/diagnoses. It allows me & other high-risk folks to know we should take extra precautions due to exposure. Just my perspective!

We received an attendance letter from my son's school asking "if they could help" him be in school more. I wrote back to say that he'd only ever been absent bc illness, & I'd be happy to help them figure out where to place air purifiers in all the classrooms since they asked how to help!

Crickets.

I looked up "anxious child" on a stock photo site and at least 50% of the pictures were of kids praying. And my formerly evangelical, still anxious self went:

Apropos of nothing, if you use the dollar sign before an amount of money you should not then ALSO say "dollars". It's $100 or one hundred dollars. "$100 dollars" means "one hundred dollars dollars."

I'm just saying that if Trump was autistic he would've been able to say "acetaminophen" in a press conference about acetaminophen, because I'm #ActuallyAutistic and would've practiced the CRAP out of that word ahead of time (even though I already knew it) to make sure I said it right.

Things today's White House autism announcement did not do:

-Discuss strategies to increase supports and services for autistic people/families
-Highlight why autistic people and families deserve respect, not pity or fear
-Endorse one speck of autism research that is not dangerous pseudoscience

Given (gestures generally at the state of things), I am ever so glad that today is the first day of fall and, thus time for our family's annual viewing of Over the Garden Wall while eating grilled cheeses.
