I'm basically a single issue voter in the next presidential primary: whichever candidate will take court reform the most seriously. You won't be able to govern without it.
we are going to have to start writing laws with explicit addenda preemptively rebutting the most likely bad faith interpretations from future fedsoc hacks.

This. “Businesses” get destroyed by bad decisions, changes in consumer fashion, hostile takeovers, or just plain bad luck.

Business is about risk. Institutions need to be about stability, otherwise everything is at risk, all the way down.
the reason its bad to run universities like businesses is that almost all businesses fail on any reasonable timeline of evaluation.

hudson's bay made it the longest and even they only got to about half an oxford of longevity
They claim financial exigency, but then turn down $4 million pledges to keep the PhD programs open and disregard financial analyses that point to the real problem—bad real estate deals, spending on consultants, and their own salaries 2/2

My dad abhors any negative comments about immigrants. Asked him recently why he’s so strong on it: ‘Because we’re always happy to take the rich and clever ones. Which means it’s not about disliking immigrants. It’s about disliking the poor and vulnerable. And that’s a bad human instinct.’
This is so disgusting.

Just checked IG again and they found time to post about a glitzy panel they were doing, but not the time to repost a clarification about TPD’s role.

As an immigrant in the community I definitely appreciate being informed of this necessary information.
They should. I’m also incredibly confused by the Ward 6 office did not share any info on this to clarify TPD’s role like the Ward 1 and 5 offices did.

I did not get this job
Awww you’re all sad bc you might (probably) won’t get this job?

Sure but you see I have created an elaborate web of self worth around this job that is load bearing. I’ve completely allowed my sense of self to become subservient to this outcome.

It’s not great!

ICE is hiring 10,000 more agents next year btw. If Dems don't remove it from the budget and get promises against recision by 1/31 that is.

Zaslav using Discovery to buy Warner Brothers with debt, gut it, and flip it to Netflix is like… a Sbarro manager buying The French Laundry with a payday loan, firing the chefs for tax write-offs, microwaving the food and then selling it to The Cheesecake Factory because “scale.”

Think an understated part of this viewpoint is that Avatar is merely ok, but was the highest grossing movie of all time.

And The Way of Water is a stone cold 10/10 masterpiece but has been completely forgotten (despite making tons of $$).
the avatar movies are pure slop and I’m tired of pretending they’re not

The thing I never quite get from these freaks is what comes next. So they want all races and ethnicities back to their own countries (whatever that means) and then what? Are you just gonna be chill with minorities then? Or are you gonna try to do colonialism part 2? What comes next??
It’s not “nationalism” in any American sense, loyal to the Constitution or values it embodies. It’s a white internationale intent on drawing a cordon blanc, you might say — and coldly willing to place democratic multiracial societies with long ties of loyalty to the U.S. outside of it.
I mean this is straight up white supremacy:

This has to be in the top ten most important things ever said about left-side political movements. YIMBY/Abundance advocates have genuinely aspired to power and to victory in California. Many of our opponents have aspired mostly to be our critics.

Did we ever get any follow up reporting on the pretty bombastic claim that the president secretly had parkinsons & was hiding it from the nation (but wasnt secret enough to hide the parkinsons doctor visit)? Ofc we didnt, bc the news orgs pushing it got what they wanted w Biden bowing out.

Some ppl have seemingly forgot that political news media spun up a "Biden secretly has parkinsons" story out of a doctor visiting the WH while the admin was working on Parkinsons policy or that Nuzzis big "Biden didnt remember me" piece was written when she was secretly working for RFK Jrs campaign
The actual "worse than watergate" scandal is how much news media collectively worked to ratfuck a Democratic presidency by largely inventing health/mental acuity concerns for hyperventilate about while largely ignoring the very real & worsening issues in front of their faces from Trump
Both taken this weekend:

This would completely swallow the rule, though. A lot of these guys need to ask themselves if they’d also obey Yoon’s late 2024 order to massacre the legislature, if he made sure to attach a legal opinion saying it was lawful.
Law prof Josh Braver notes the problem of 'manifestly unlawful' when the civilian legal authorities *say* it's lawful -- and thinks least bad outcome is the military maintains civilian supremacy even if acting illegally. Many (most?) civ-mil relatios scholars agree.
