Some news: Last April, I left Ginkgo Bioworks after 8+ years as a software engineer there. Since then, I’ve been working on starting a new company called GenHub with a couple other ex-Ginkgo people, Bob Van Hove and Chris Mitchell. (1/5)

If you're good at admin, do admin for a wind developer. If you're bad at admin, do it for a chain of petrol stations.

Critics of renewables often point to land use as a reason not to invest in wind & solar. Land use IS a real issue for all energy assets incl renewables (unless on-site).

But what critics conveniently forget is the huge land impact of fossil fuels. Aerial view of fracking sites in Wickett, Texas. 👇

What do real landowners and local officials think about wind and solar projects? We asked them in our last report that focused on Texas:

If anyone is on the fence about getting dental surgery for your cat (if they’re in pain and need it), you have to consider that getting to see them high on anesthetic for a couple hours afterwards is worth at least a few hundred dollars of amusement

Whenever I’m standing around with nothing better to do, like watching fireworks, I imagine talking to someone who lived here 200 or 300 years ago. That big skyscraper to the right? It’s part way between the South End and the Charles. Yeah, they filled in all the swamp there
