Without farmworkers we wouldn’t be able to celebrate Thanksgiving. Be thankful for their hard work this holiday season!

Sin los trabajadores agrícolas no podríamos celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias. ¡Agradece su arduo trabajo en estas fiestas!

Some folks proposed that Mamdani did this so Chris would translate for the general audience, but nobody out there knows All Of The Words. I love him for stopping to ask.
When I talk to students about public speaking or teaching, I always bring this up: Just tell people when you don't know something! It's remarkably powerful b/c it signals to your audience that you know the boundaries of your expertise and they can trust what you DO talk about.
completely outside of politics, this is so charming

I handed out neighbor-printed whistles in Flatbush tonight and it was lovely. New Yorkers in motion do not EVER stop to chat but for this, they did.

One church lady in a fancy hat gleefully took a whistle and told me she’d “blow they icy asses outta her town,” then apologized skyward for swearing.
With ICE and border patrol goons spreading out across the country, I put together a resource guide for buying, printing, and distributing whistles, based on my own experience. Now is the time to whistle up, hope this helps. dansinker.com/posts/202…

This was a delicious deep dive
Folks, I did it. I made the Cooks Illustrated competing pear crisps, and then I made my friends judge them blind.

it didn't even really provide me with any new information but that one email between epstein and some other random rich elite saying "when will the madness end" about the metoo movement felt like a key unlocking my brain that will explain every unforced institutional capitulation we've seen

I cannot say enough, there are places in your community that need help and one of the most personally empowering things you can do in this disempowering era is show up and ask humbly where you can slot in and contribute.

Didn't realize how much I needed "tall man folded into tiny chair" content until now. ❤️💙🧡
Soon, we'll oversee a budget of more than $100 billion — and every dollar will reflect our commitment to working New Yorkers and delivering universal childcare. Good thing some little New Yorkers gave me a counting lesson today!

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

I will not be watching or reading any "analyses" about the Democratic party in D.C. I know all about them & their complicity. I'm not interested and I choose to reclaim my time and attention.

There're other kinds of politics to engage & most importantly to do (including in our local communities).

DANG. “[Cuomo…did deny it had happened, which is something I have noticed you get to do when you believe that you're in charge of reality.”
Today I wrote about Zohran Mamdani's historic win, the energizing power of holding to shared principles of decency, and a taxonomy of the endlessly intertwined relationship between shame and vision. www.the-reframe.com/the-extraord...

Currently decompressing after the awesome @edsguild.bsky.social Red Pencil conference. I realized that there was a through line for me from the keynote and all the sessions I attended: editors need to lean in to their humanity and come from a place of compassion and empathy.

A very "You exist in the context of all in which you live and what came before you" moment here
On the other site, an 18-year-old Zohran canvasser described the legendary Wallace Shawn as "the actor who plays Dr. Sturgis on Young Sheldon" which is honestly adorable

We included potatoes in the offerings last year but forgot them this year. Then this one kid came up and was so excited "I remember your house! You offered me a potato! And I took it!" Potatoes 2026 for sure.

It's not complicated, it's just that the people trying to make this into a scandal don't have anyone who loves them, so they don't understand terms of endearment
A cousin is anyone near your age in your family or some kid who is around a lot and an aunt is an older lady who gives a shit about you.

Capitalization affects how people read hashtags or how people hear them on screen readers. Use #camelCase or #PascalCase in hashtags instead of lowercase. You could have #DoctorWhoRewatch ("Doctor Who Rewatch") or #doctorwhorewatch ("doctor whore watch.")
