The way to win elections is 1) figure out who your base are, 2) listen to them, 3) reach out to normies. Do not waste time or energy trying to win over entrenched opposition, on the right or on the left. They'll lead you on but only to help defeat you in the end. Haven't we learned over two decades?

It's not the bottom line. It's not clicks and engagement. It's not access. MSM are quite simply ideologically aligned with conservatives and that's why we see sanewashing, bothsidesism, hagiographies of Republican voters and suppression of liberal voices. They want conservatives in power.

It’s really important that every time we read about these “detentions” we recognize that this isn’t simply a matter of freedom. These people are being “detained” in horrific terrifying conditions that are inhumane and are an assault on our own morality in addition to these kids.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

There are only three possible outcomes for undocumented immigrants in this country: mass deportation, amnesty, or legal limbo (i.e., status quo for last 40 years). The first causes violence in communities and harassment of citizens. The third quietly ruins people's lives, as opportunities pass them.
