Catastrophic disaster about to happen in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, and Haiti due to Melissa (catastrophic rainfall for sure, and maybe the wind). GTFO kind of thing... though folks living there cannot GTFO.

I haven’t been there since January. No regrets.
She does make up for it with the velvety rich red color though!
I mean… technically… in high enough dose…
Am I right in thinking this one has a deep, complex and enchanting scent?
I guess for now you have wine and raisins 😊

but yeah, my family used to have a modest garden at the “grandma’s house” aka the place we spent summers at. It was enough to get everyone a couple od jam jars for the winter and make some soup.
And still need to procure the seeds somehow.

I assume the sulfur-compounds in cress could potentially lead to liver failure if you consumed it in large enough quantities.
Chat, how long can one survive on microgreens?

Today in inconsequential thoughts:

Is my love for polished concrete and organic architecture based solely on having played the Neverhood on repeat in my early teens?

Do I want to live in an Earthship or just chill with Klayman?

Easy option - felt sheets, either cut to shape and sewn together or you can try you luck with embroidery black on white.

Fun option that fits well into my impression of you - ping-pong balls, they are pretty drillable into so you can attach them easily, and just paint the pupils.
If you’re open to eyeball suggestions, let me know :) @ai6yr.bsky.social

So we’re now paying federal taxes so Donald Trump can withdraw them from the Treasury like it’s his own personal bank account? Really?

New paper on AM fungi in a prairie restoration experiment planted with community members back in 2021! Beyond the cool results we found, this was such a fun day where so many of my labmates and volunteers supported my first field experiment as a grad student. Feeling so grateful! ☺️

Once again, one reason Trump says & does whatever he wants is bc every societal institution, including the media, has totally normalized & internalized the idea that the laws, the Constitution, & the international treaties we have signed & ratified simply don’t apply to this one guy. It’s maddening.
No mention at all of the fact that Trump doesn't have the legal authority to do this, that plans haven't even been reviewed (because the office is closed for the government shutdown), that the size and cost estimates keep changing, etc., etc.

I’d take this a step further and say that forced and required car ownership is one of the central problems.

People’s ability to afford housing now is directly tied to those households needing to own 2-3 personal vehicles per household. That’s 10s of thousands of $$$ a year
I suspect the same is true in Canada: we’ve developed cities under a “drive until you qualify” housing market, starved public transit, enacted zoning/planning that makes it harder to build affordable moderate density; forced car ownership is part of the problem.

EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.
