So making a bad AI advert that nobody liked took significantly longer than just filming it would have? Hmm… I wonder what’s the material and legal distinction between unionised film production and AI tech bros… Nope, no idea… <_<

As Claire is probably not making a comeback any time soon, a reminder that Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is actually rather good - it’s the same leads as the remakes of 2 and 4.

Currently watching @cmanticore.bsky.social playing Thief Gold for the first time after years of me talking about it. Bafford’s down and she’s now into Cragscleft, not a fan of the zombies but guards are proving no real issue.

I’m baffled that they somehow made an amazingly beautiful and melancholic Metroid Prime game and then added in a bunch of escort missions and chatty companions circa-2005. O_o

I have played the tutorial and first level of Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow. I like it. VR asides - and there are some nice VR specific touches - it feels like a cross between Thief 4 and Deadly Shadows.

Chris Person takes a look at Horses, "the indie game that is too scandalous for either Valve or Epic, is only beyond the pale if you're not familiar with any other art form" (quoted from the article blurb).

That list of HORSES’ content going around as some kind of condemnation is particularly ridiculous, because you know what else has blood, gore, torture, full frontal nudity, depiction of slavery and implied sexual assault?

Baldur’s Gate 3! And somehow no issues being sold. I wonder why (it’s money).

The kids are alright…
spoke with a few game devs students the other day and i was very happy to hear that some of them consider prey 2017 one of the best games they've ever played

it's a juggernaut of level & systems design coupled with immaculate art direction

what a shame microsoft shut down arkane austin

It’s 2025 and there’s somehow a new Metroid Prime and a new Thief game out tomorrow.

I have many thoughts about this, one is I can't help but think this is all just shining a light on how games are still being held to wildly different standards than other media like film. I've played very few games like HORSES but watched so many films like it (as a connoisseur of arthouse horror).

Based on the stated guidelines GTA V should probably not be available to buy on Steam or EGS. 🤔

Yesterday, the Epic Games Store decided at the last minute not to distribute the game, after having previously approved a release build. HORSES is otherwise now available on GOG, Itch, and Humble for $4.99. www.horses.wtf

It is not 23 years old, you take that back right now…

👨‍🦳
Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex is 23 years old as of today. Only 3 more years and it’ll officially be when the show takes place. This show holds up incredibly well after all this time. So… There are still technical reasons for this though they are ones that could be solved another way.

The most common is their use as a way to break up the NavMesh so enemies can’t follow players into certain areas. This seems to be their primary use in Silent Hill f for example.
