In the event of an encounter with immigration agents in the East Bay, make sure you and your family know your rights. (1/2)
Please be kind, everyone. There is not enough kindness out there.
Even that OT point is only for "non-exempt" - hourly - employees.

If you're salaried ("exempt"), there's no OT. An employer can assign salaried workers work that may require > 40 hrs/wk without specific overtime compensation.

There is a min salary to be exempt but it's less than you'd think.
Every comment in the reddit post about this is person after person all describing what a positive influence he was.

Testiment to him being an absolute mensch.
Genuinely maybe the most-positive streamer online and a generational talent.

I must have watched a hundred hours of his videos or more this year learning chess.

I'm not usually broken up about a famous person passing but this one hits. Absolute theft for us to lose him at 29.
Daniel Naroditsky, a chess grandmaster, the highest title given to competitors by the International Chess Federation, and a former Junior World Champion, has died at 29.

Just to be clear, are we all rooting for Team Heist or Team Louvre?
Shoutout to whoever was like the news sucks, let’s spice it up by doing a jewel heist at the Louvre
"Women don't like the operating system."
“What Linux distribution do you use?”

“My wife left me”
Sedition will remain a crime on the books until they amend it out of the constitution, and the statute of limitations runs far longer than this administration has left.
This story is extraordinary even by 2025 standards. Marco Rubio, the nation's top diplomat, made a deal with Bukele and agreed to renege on informant agreements in a years-long DOJ investigation into MS-13, totally undercutting credibility of such agreements.

Rubio promised to betray U.S. informants to get Trump’s El Salvador prison deal
To secure U.S. access to President Nayib Bukele’s notorious CECOT prison, Rubio agreed to turn over several MS-13 leaders central to a long-running Justice Department investigation.

Okay, for the folks who asked: here's the majority AI view, writing up the reasonable, thoughtful view on AI that the vast majority of people in tech hold, that gets overshadowed by the bluster and hype of the tycoons trying to shill their nonsense. anildash.com/2025/10/17/t... Please share!

The internet would agree that would be the most frivolous mechanism.
That can sponsor a lot of over-the-top art car.
lets say a wizard has cursed you with a lot of money. you are going to become permanently brain damaged simply by being in possession of so much money. the only way out of it is to spend a lot of money on something ridiculous and not at all useful

what would you buy to break the curse?
It would be great if they would all self-designate as such, lets the rest of us know not to apply there for jobs, or hire anyone with their logo on their resume.
Given how few electronic products today are even possible to rework, much less repair by a "normal user" without a specialized workbench, you should be proud!

Manipulating the thinking sand into doing what you want is the closest thing we have to witchcraft today.
They're getting paid.

Even if this govt obscures things, banks keep receipts.

There is always a paper trail.
Being frustrated with local traffic enforcement and concluding "so we should invite the Feds to do this" is an insane take.

Up there with "I dislike the paint my landlord used on the walls, so I'm going to burn the whole building to the ground."
Dreamforce literally shuts down multiple blocks of busy streets in SOMA; while the conference is underway, it's monopolizing public resources in a very disruptive way. Covering the increased security and traffic mgmt costs it imposes on the city is the least it can do.
I think Ada does this.

Heck, Ada can restrict integers to a subrange of the full 16/32/64-bit and it's a compile error if it cannot prove it won't over/underflow the range bounds.

...there is a reason Ada is insisted upon in some places (avionics) and basically avoided everywhere else.
That couch fucking loser can't keep out of the spotlight whenever he gets it, and every time he manages to piss off more people.

I don't think it's possible to glow him up, he would immediately contradict every nice thing anyone said about him.
I think the top tier firms - Deloitte, McKinsey, etc probably follow that line of thinking.

I always thought of Accenture as more IT focused and more about economy - "we will aim 100 people at your ERP system build-out for a year" etc
I bet it will both make Daikatana look like high art and seen like it carried a sensitive anti-toxic-masculinity message by comparison.
I think it's actually really interesting! The 2GHz / 4 core Dragonwing aims at RPi for sure. And the 160MHz Cortex M33 mcu is a worthy mcu in its own right. RPi is a frustratingly almost-good solution for embedded compute but really struggles with real time. This could be a best of both worlds.
For basically the same price as Arduino genuine hw, you could get so much more power from another vendor. They've been kind of coasting on brand id for years. I assume they have had some long term edu contracts or something providing the revenue base.
