I don’t know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content they’re presenting.

If cats played football, the tiger-striped stray that periodically wanders over the back deck like he owns the place would be a linebacker.

All of which illustrates how infuriating it is when dipshits say that AI can 'help me to brainstorm ideas'. It can't do that. It can plaster a deepfake smile onto the corpse of zombie capitalism as it shambles towards the precipice of climate catastrophe, but it can't create meaningful literature.

If you produce something for public consumption, having a stranger really Get It, and tell you, SND show your work? Rare and precious.

The idea of being SO popular that thoughtful praise is just another Tuesday... sounds like a kind of death.
In college, I sent Mario Vargas Llosa a paper I wrote about one of his novels. (I think my dad suggested I do this ridiculous thing.) Months later I received a brief note from his secretary saying that when he read the paper Vargas Llosa said "This young man understood my book very well."

This is always the unanswerable comeback, like to the fogies who said “Rap is just talking really fast!” Make them try it and watch how red they turn. Or the standup who invited a heckler onstage and said, “Tell a joke. Tell them one. Make them laugh.” The guy, of course, bombed.
Also if you think making quality art is fun and not work; try it.
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.
