I may not you follow back. It's not personal. I have a day job. I'm here for what interests me, and my time is limited. I never follow if there's no profile, or no posts, or only sex pics, or if it's clear the intent is to sell porn or ask for charity - I do give to my preferred charities.

When is a coup not a coup but is really a coup? When the president of the United States threatens to bankrupt a sovereign nation (Argentina) unless the electorate returns his hand-picked crony candidate to power.

We underestimated it because when we’ve asked those rich folks to pay more taxes to show their patriotism they elected an authoritarian thug to tear down our democracy and cut their taxes. 🤷‍♂️

Rep. Ralph Norman on Trump saying a wealthy donor is willing to pay the troops if the government can't: "Democrats underestimated the patriotism of those who are willing to pay the 1.3 million active enlisted men in this country."

But I thought money was speech and so we can’t limit individuals or companies spending to influence our politics? 🙄

Ron Johnson on the No Kings protest: "One of the things I hope Kash Patel and Pam Bondi are looking into is the funding of these groups. Who pays for the busses to bus a lot of these folks in?"

It's the old Tom Lehrer line: "Political satire became obsolete when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize."

For Witch King and Queen Demon, some combination of the coppery tang of blood, dust from dry lands, cedar, the wildflowers of a grassland. (I could add decomposition and fouled water but that might put buyers off.)

What would *your* book smell like if you engaged in a mega weirdo scented pages promotional campaign?

Attention Nobel Committee: Do not award the Peace prize until at least 3 years after the "events of record" that might justify such an award. An agreement violated by one or both sides in less time is no agreement at all - it's just a pause to reload.

When Hamas fully reconstitutes and Israel goes back to mass bombing, wait for Trump to yell: "It was Biden's peace plan!"

Democratic candidates for prez in '28 should name who their AG will be. We cannot have another timid, go-slow prosecutor like Garland.

It looks like this Saturday’s No Kings protest is going to be MASSIVE, and that TERRIFIES this administration. Will you be protesting? Where?

Krissy in her happy place, i.e., Camp Krissy, this afternoon.

(and for those of you going "What? Camp Krissy? What?": whatever.scalzi.com/2025/04/30/w...)

I didn't include racist, misogynist, eugenicist, homo- and transphobic, and grifting because I figure everyone knows that is a given for the regime. You have to have committed or enabled some manner of abuse (or crime) to qualify for a job in the regime. Although I guess I just included them now.

I confess, I resent that we are now being "governed" (such as we can call it that) by the most aggressively ignorant mediocre nepo baby dipshits imaginable.

Trump: "I had a very wealthy person who called -- a donor, a great gentleman -- and he said, 'if there's any money necessary, shortfall, for the paying of the troops, then I will pay it.' Meaning he will pay it. How about that?"

“There is a lone and broken Russian submarine limping home from patrol. What a change from the 1984 Tom Clancy novel The Hunt for Red October. Today, it seems more like The Hunt for the Nearest Mechanic.”

Sad news about the maestro, Drew Struzan. Back in the early '90s when I was new to the business, I had a very lucky experience visiting him in his studio in Pasadena with a group of other artists. To this day, I am amazed at the originals I got to look at that day.

RIP, sir.
