#Glimmer✨: Opposite of a “trigger”

Glimmers are sensory experiences that help to down-regulate the flight or fight response. They create a sense of calm, relaxation, comfort, or satisfaction

Nope. Never will. We are legit #neurodivergent. Everything psychology thinks it knows about how our minds work, what motivates us? All based on the wrong model.

Delayed gratification is not our friend. In fact it rubs us raw.
Holy shit, this is why attempting self 'discipline' by pre-punishing my INCREDIBLY ADHD self has never once worked.

Yes!! One strategy I’m confident that most #neurodivergent folx NEED to begin implementing for our own mental health is what i call “scheduled unscheduled time”

Time specifically set aside without a pre-determined focus goal. Time to intentionally let our minds and attention *wander freely*
And forcing myself to not THINK of anything but the next step in my task/s drains exactly what I need to be able to do the tasks.

My kindergarten teacher called me her little butterfly, because I never settled. I just flitted from person to group to fascination.

I need to do that again. I see.

A friend posted this with the observation: Sometimes the best we can do is to reflect the beauty of the universe to others when they can’t see it for themselves

So essentially what i’m suggesting is that neurodivergents (and anyone else who wants to) set aside time to allow our minds to wander the same way.

Whatever has your attention at the moment, that’s what you focus on. If it’s nothing, that’s fine too. It’s really just off-leash time for the mind.
Exactly this. I contend that if we’re successfully prioritizing our “scheduled unscheduled” time, we tend to actually be more efficient overall

Do you ever lie down to sleep, only to begin to remember all the things you’d forgotten? That happens because your mind is free to wander and change focus
I've done this with great success. Relieving myself of what I "should" do is so freeing. Even if I do something that looks a lot like work, it's still relaxing because at least it's something I chose and not something imposed upon me.

You deserve to devote time to *your best life* whatever that can look like today

We don’t exist to make corporations money

Every second of our life doesn’t need to be capitalized

Creativity, rest, exploration are all needs
