Most right wing content on my "for you" TL (tiktok, insta, X) comes from "edutainment" content, like cooking, DIY, food preservation, Art, home improvement, etc.

And it's *incredibly subtle*. Like, a food channel will talk about avoiding chemicals *they put in*,

Missouri's age verification law goes into effect today. 🚫

📈 Searches for VPNs are spiking in the state.

🔐 People know these laws put their privacy and sensitive data at risk. They find ways to get around bad laws, like using VPNs or going to non-compliant websites that don't check age.

I can’t believe you idiots are still arguing with me about this. Idc what your job is paying you now, you still have to labor for your money. You’re working class.

All it takes is an unfortunate accident or illness for you to be in the poor house. Medical debt and fallout would cripple you. Stfu.
All of you are poor. These hypothetical poor people everyone is discussing are us. We’re poor. Idc if you make 6 figures or not. You’re poor too.

“Strong floor, no ceiling” is the type of slogan that resonates with wealthy centrist political commentators, not everyday people who are actually your voters. What does that mean to someone who is struggling to afford rent, groceries, insurance? This is why Zohran’s policy slogans were so effective

LSU is paying its previous football coach over $50 million NOT to coach there while likely guaranteeing Kiffin something approaching double that, all while having an academic hiring freeze and budget cuts across the board. What is the purpose of a university (rhetorical)?
SOURCES: Lane Kiffin is expected to accept LSU's offer to become the Tigers next head coach. Kiffin is set to meet with his Ole Miss team this morning at 9 AM CT. As we reported yesterday morning, LSU has been very confident it was going to land Kiffin. www.nytimes.com/athletic/684...

"I'm going to tax the everloving shit out of the rich people who made your life miserable and put every masked thug who broke the law or traitor who wrecked the government for their own profit in prison" I admit is too long for a sign, but at the very least this should be the spirit of the thing.

more on civlmil stuff here, but i think at the end of the day huntingtonism is a dead end. huntington thought that by becoming a soldier you stopped being a citizen and started being an apolitical warrior-monk.

but upholding the constitution is the duty of all citizens--no matter their profession.
Honestly, the entire thing strikes me as an example of terminal lawyer-brain. The truth is that the point at which a civilian authority is issuing manifestly unlawful orders, you've entered a state of exception and the truth is a soldier can end up being shot for obeying or refusing.

The New Deal wasn’t built on a promise that there would be “no ceiling” for the richest Americans.

Quite the opposite, in fact. FDR knew its politics could only work if he singled out the rich as villains and knew that its policies could only work if the rich paid their fair share in taxes.

It's a surveillance state built to harm young people
People are very hard on young people on here, lack of critical thinking, lack of responsibility etc, and then you see something like this and it all makes a different kind of sense.

Please read and retweet
3 things about the age verification proposals:

1. First amendment is permanently restricted. Adults must only talk about adult topics.

2. As it stands, it enjoins parents from safely introducing adult topics to children.

3. Actual pedophilia among elites is unaddressed.

The highest calling of journalism isn’t to tell two sides of a story.

The highest calling of journalism is to tell the truth.

And acting like a stenographer is a betrayal of your audience.
Unfortunately, in US journalism it is considered neutral to spread a lie, but it is considered "biased" to call out a lie. So, there is a structural asymmetry that rewards colorful lies with virality.

This is why we need to tax rich people far more
Imagine if they just subsidized newspapers and magazines the way they’re subsidizing this slop
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."

An important part of arresting the consolidation of authoritarianism is convincing corporations and institutions that Trump will eventually be out of power and at that point they’ll face consequences for their actions and by that standard this is a good sign
Jamie Dimon says JPM hasn't given to the ballroom because "anything we do, since we do a lot of contracts with governments here and around the world, we have to be very careful about how anything is perceived." Adds "And also how the next DOJ is going to deal with."

This is so dumb
They "calibrated" and "verified" it by matching programmer skills/tasks with MCP server descriptions. Even if assuming that made sense (it doesn't), it's absolutely not transferable to other occupations and their skills/tasks vs LLM + MCP server.

It's hilarious and media will gobble it all up.

The vibe shift today is, I think, due to the fact that New Yorkers were on the offensive instead of the defensive.

Usually with protests, demonstrators have to defend the space, defend their right to march, etc. They get beat up and pushed around and antagonized into chaos and trauma.

Ah, the accusatory “we,” where rather than describing something the author and others do, it means “you,” and it is meant to describe something others, but certainly not the author, do, which is implied to be wrong or unreasonable.
