To be honest, this is probably exactly the equivalent of mum singing The Easybeats or Elvis or Bobby Vee or ... ulp ... Paper Lace.

emblematic behavior from the Maga cult: they’ll screech in great detail about how they want to murder you, then are often genuinely surprised when you don’t want to hang out
I recall a journalist having written about how offended Trump rally attendees were that he wouldn't take selfies with them, ten minutes after they'd been chanting about how he and his colleagues are the enemies of the people.

this poll also perfectly confirms that MAGA voters are “that guy who constantly tries to piss people off then acts surprised when people get pissed off at him”
I mean everyone they JUUUUST did this poll.

We have an extensive collection of "That's not my ______" books, or as I like to call it, Baby's First Introduction to Body Shaming.

It's the author's morals that are too slippery, Mr Frog, not your toes. Your toes are just perfect, as is the rest of you, however rough, squishy, or shiny.

These Christmas messages are deranged. It’s terrifying that we share the earth today with tens of millions of people who are untroubled by such posts, or positively love them. “MAY THEY ROT IN HELL. AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS!”

This is the funniest fucking thing you could possibly have on the weird right wing Gofundme clone. The literal virtue signal button that tells them you’re not giving them a red cent but hey man good luck 👍 All websites should have this feature.

For instance, a lot of them seem to have learned what shrink is—and that the NRF was conflating total shrink with losses from shoplifting—in the last month. This screenshot is, as I said, from a story I published in 2021. It was always right there. www.theatlantic.com/health/archi...

In 2021 I published like 3k words explaining why even a surface-level examination of even just the publicly available info should cast serious doubts on the veracity of the industry’s claims on shoplifting and what I have learned since is that a lot of journalists don’t know how stores work
Has *anyone* in US media done any reckoning or self-reflection about the fact that they got caught up in a bogus moral panic driven by big retailers? Will anyone do anything differently the next time around?
Column: How the retail lobby sold a $45-billion whopper about organized shoplifting
Politicians and the press bought into the panic over organized shoplifting, but the source of the alarming statistic now admits that it was a lie.

"Satisfaction" is genuinely my favourite and until today I always thought that was the normie answer.

Well, I probably play "Miss You" or "Sympathy for the Devil" more. But I scream-sing along to "Satisfaction" every time.

All that aside, "Paint it Black" is objectively their best song.
without saying paint it black, fav song by the rolling stones?

What if every time a politician or activist dismissed Good Thing X with Bad Faith Objection Y, we hounded them until they explained their solution to Y as well?

Oh, we can't help refugees until we help homeless veterans? Okay, time for you to pony up for homeless veterans right now, then.
Let's pretend childhood obesity is a genuine crisis and one that makes food stamps dangerous.

The obvious solution is the state delivering nutritious food directly to families. Or free restaurants with all-you-can-eat buffets chock full of healthy foods.

But it's not really about health, is it?
Iowa will not participate in a food assistance program for low-income families to help with child food costs while school is out

“An EBT card does nothing to promote nutrition at a time when childhood obesity has become an epidemic,” the governor said

One of Andrew Yang’s good ideas (he had a couple I’ll grant him) was intra-US high school exchanges. I think this should be adopted specifically between rural/exurban and urban/suburban households - spend a semester or even just a few weeks in someone else’s home & at someone else’s school
