It’s official: I’m running for Congress to represent San Francisco!

I’ll fight for our city – against Trump’s takeover, for our values, & for real progress. I’ve delivered on housing, healthcare, clean energy, & civil rights – & I’ll do it again.

Let’s build the future our city & country deserve.

In a piece of Good News, Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) has reprogrammed several traffic signals to better accommodate the bike bus!

During school commute hours, several key signals will provide a longer walk phase with a "long-press" of the call button.

You could think of this as bike bus signal priority.

Drives me nuts that things like bike lanes get painted as luxury goods or harbingers of gentrification when making it easy and convenient to get around your city by bike could save low-income households thousands of dollars a year.
One of the less discussed harms of car-centric planning is that it imposes a serious financial burden on working families. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/20/b...

“I will build 200,000 units of affordable housing… and I’m going to make it easier for the private sector to build housing, because what we see today is it’s not labor, it’s not materials—it’s the wait that is actually costing so many so much to build the housing we need” @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

When will Caltrans start adding time via transit to their freeway signs? ⏳
Take transit.

It’s safer, better for the environment and it will support our ability to fund service and make improvements.

SB 720 - SIGNED INTO LAW
This bill by @senatorashby.bsky.social will institute a fairer and easier to administer red light camera program in the state that cities could choose to use.

I believe The Mouse will find a way to stop this but it would be extremely funny if SB79, the bill allowing apartments to be built near transit stops throughout California, ends up allowing homes near Disneyland because the monorail is technically transit

Important to remember that not only did we pass #SB79, the biggest transit-oriented upzoning bill ever, we also passed a clean CEQA exemption for new multifamily infill housing.

This is, bar none, the biggest year in state action on housing policy reform in California history. Not even close.

That feeling when the Governor signs your bill allowing more homes near public transit & you then walk from your 39-unit apartment building to get on the subway.

Housing + transit = perfect combo

Ladies and gentlemen, we did it. SB 79 has been signed.

This gives me hope. That Calif can get serious about climate. That young people and new immigrants to Calif might have same privileges I did. That we can make transit work. And that we transit advocates can learn from this phenomenal work by housing activists

What can mid-rise housing look like on side streets where lots are redeveloped one at a time? This example is a good one.
- All homes have windows in at least two directions.
- Elevator building.
- Entry door from a balcony for fresh air.
50x122 is a common lot size in much of western North America.
The New Vancouver Special - 50' lot edition.

Accessible single stair flats on a 50x122 lot.
12 family size homes (or) 24 small units.

The people posting those flyers either don’t know of the Berkeley Elmwood neighborhood’s repulsive history of weaponizing downzoning in support of racial exclusion, or they embrace it.

This rules so hard. It's been a longstanding conviction of mine that the best way to convince people to replace car trips with ebike trips is by letting them try out an ebike for free.

Ok let’s talk about this:

He cites no legal authority because there is none.

“Antifa” isn’t an organization.

Being anti-fascist means fighting fascism.

They’ll label anyone they want to go after as “antifa” or providing “material support” & prosecute them.

(For the record, that’s fascism.)
