Four was playing in the living room and I was eavesdropping as she told a story. "What are you going to do," she said in an ominous voice, "in the time of the frogs?"

An interview with a historian who set out to weave a textile of the type that would have been sold to plantations for use by enslaved people, using period equipment.

TRUMP [after spending 5 minutes with Zohran]: surplus value, it’s a very wonderful thing, very wonderful, and they’re stealing it. Can you believe that?

We’re going to be looking very strongly at the bourgeoisie, what they’re up to

This is really, really bad. MOST of the health care providers in rural areas are nurse practitioners or physicians assistants and there ALREADY aren't enough of them. Now there will be even less. Or, probably, none.

It's not a foolproof plan but every political debate from now on should be a Normal Guy competition. Ask them to describe grocery shopping in detail. Talk about what it's like to have a friend

The reason why most women my age couldn't care less if Bill Clinton goes down with the ship is that we were teens & young women when the Anita Hill and Monica Lewinsky scandals happened. It's rotten to the core. All the way down. Your "lost" era is not ours.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

I am moving out of state and have an outdoor cat who is very skittish that I simply can’t take on a plane without risking life and limb. Would anyone in PDX like to adopt a moody gray lady? She could be fine inside a home with no other cats, she doesn’t tolerate them (hence outside). DM if so.

We have Trump because we fought Bush instead of the white supremacist systems that created Bush, just like with Reagan before him and Nixon before *him.*

Want to prevent another Trump? Dismantle the systems that created him. They go back to the founding of this country.

It all would have been much easier if, as would have happened if we were remotely a serious country, it all ended with the Access Hollywood interview.

Hey @bsky.app, why was Sarah Kendzior suspended?
If Sarah Kendzior is indeed blocked on @bsky.app, this is a completely unjustified and highly questionable move. Sarah Kendzior is among the best voices of knowledge-based critical journalism in the US. See to it that this is corrected immediately and with an apology, @pfrazee.com!

Lots of people comparing Senate Democrats to Charlie Brown trying to kick the football, but that analogy only works in a version where Lucy has told Charlie Brown she's going to pull it away, and also that afterwards she's going to have Snoopy executed in a foreign prison

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

Medicare for All would save $450B a year.

Every dollar spent on food stamps generates $1.50-$1.80 in economic activity.

Each dollar going to low-wage workers adds $1.20 to the economy overall.

It’s not about what this country can or can’t afford.

It’s about priorities.

My great grandfather was the manager of the Francis Marion hotel in downtown Charleston, SC. He and his brothers threw empty bottles down from the roof onto the Klan rally below in Marion Square in hmm probably early 1920s.
I grew up in poverty in the rural South. In the '90s. It is absolutely not true that "everyone" had a white supremacist phase or anywhere close. My dad and grandad were clear the klan were evil scum. My grandmother was avowedly anti-segregation. The redneck garage fired a mechanic for saying slurs.
