“Of course you can trust me Mr Trump, I have definitely always voted Republican”

There is a stink emanating from the House of Reps created by the refusal of Johnson to swear in Rep-Elect Adelita Grijalva. Very reminiscent of the stench that rose from the Senate in 2016 when McConnell refused to hold a hearing re Obama’s nominee for Supreme Court.Someone please file a law suit.

One child going hungry in America is one too many – this used to be a value we could all agree upon.

The Trump Administration and Congressional Republicans need to do their damn job and start delivering for the American people.

Enough is enough.

Frog looked at Toad’s calendar. The November page was still on top. Frog tore off the November page. He tore off the December page. And the January page, the February page, and the March page. He came to the April page. Frog tore off the April page too.
You just know that Mike Davis has some email chains that would make JD Vance queasy.
Didn’t RFKJr start the day off lamenting the sperm count of high schoolers and laying off critical departments? How do you describe any of this without cursing?
The meat couldn’t be any fresher – and she cooked it thoroughly, just to be safe. I’d rather have her in the kitchen than say, a certain cabinet member.

"but that were negotiated in" i.e. programs created by Congress. Laws. That is what they are terminating. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-shutdo...
Trump: "We're getting rid of problems that we didn't like but that were negotiated in but we didn't like. We're terminating those programs. And they're gonna be terminated on a permanent basis."
I do appreciate this breaking on the same day as Kavanaugh sitting there asking if we as a society have, perhaps, reached the end of the need for civil rights protections.
I love the “radialeftistexperiementwecantknowtheconsequences”… as if the first one in *June* didn’t exist. Apparently not enough coverage, as I don’t see how any responsible outlet doesn’t split screen this with “here’s a bunch of video of all the normies four months back, stop hyperventilating”

“Yes,” said Frog, reaching for a cookie, “we need will power.”

“What is will power?” asked Toad.

“Will power is trying hard not to do something you really want to do,” said Frog.
Dammit, Beavis, get out my kitchen
Dude just clapped his hands up on top of his head like a 3yr old thinking “oh no! devil horns!”
Interior offices, Hades

SISYPHUS: Well Ok… are there other options
RECEPTIONIST: << screams, gestures wildly, heaving, panting, then looking downward with face of defeat and frustration >>
SISYPHUS: But the rock — it doesn’t talk, right?

They also cancelled government data collection about hunger to minimize evidence about their policies
ProPublica obtained records from the Department of Agriculture that detail the 94 million pounds of food, down to the number of eggs, that never reached food banks because of the #Trump administration’s cuts to The Emergency Food Assistance Program.

My latest video for @propublica.org.
For years I’d always wondered what the advertising base was for the flood of these “this weird blueberry trick will make your pediatrician PUKE AND CRY” ads… and now they have taken human form and are running HHS.

a key thing about vought — and all of these guys — is that they have a totally top down and hierarchical vision of the world. they believe that the cultural changes they hate can be turned off by destroying the federal government because they can’t imagine that they emerged bottom-up in society
What he’s railing against is a profound shift in culture, status… He’s obsessed with the idea that America is controlled by a leftist “ruling elite” - but “elite” isn’t defined socio-economically or by political power, it means something like: Getting to define “real America” and who gets to belong.
Dude has the information diet of a raccoon
I assume they’ve fired the people who run the what-if scenarios, but I keep imagining how the next pandemic will play out now that they’ve scuttled everything so thoroughly. We’re at least aware of measles but I can’t imagine we’re capable of responding to something like Ebola.

Hard to find a more obvious example of the journalism adage “If someone says it’s raining outside and someone else says it isn’t, your job is not to quote them both, your job is to go outside.”
A classic case of irresponsible both-sidesism from the NYT. The story is that Trump and MAGA propagandists are lying about Portland to incite a conflict, not that there are different views of the matter.

Democrats has a trifecta in 2021 and did not do any of these things. Maybe Dems should be taking notes on power politics here.
Thune: "If the Democrats had won the majority, they probably would've tried to nuke the filibuster. And then you'd have four new senators from Puerto Rico and DC, you'd have a packed Supreme Court, you'd have abortion on demand ... "
