a big problem with sonic fandom is that the ‘good’ sonic fans are like “gosh, gee, it’s such a shame iizuka is such a stupid man who doesn’t know any better” and the bad ones are like “IIZUKA MUST PAY FOR HIS CRIMES AGAINST THE SONIC FRANCHISE” and the ‘good’ ones are friends with the bad ones
I’ve brought it up before, but the fact I’ve legitimately had a significantly better time posting about literal *Star Wars* online than I have posting about Sonic pokes a bit of a gaping hole into the Sonic fandom’s self-exonerating “every fandom has toxic minorities!” bullshit 🙃

I had one of my worst unsolicited interactions on Twitter from a cis guy who self-labeled as “PRO-TRANS” in his bio. For some reason, after my criticism of a comic he worked on (not what he did himself, just the comic) interrupted his scroll of tons of people praising it, he decided to pick on me.
Gonna be brutally honest, I get the idea behind it, but self-labeling yourself as a “Straight Ally” in your bio isn’t as effective at gaining my trust as a Queer person than *being* an ally with your actions.
